As I prepare Chapter 10 (3684 words), I find more and more reference material fitting for Masar and their "shamanic" ways.

Now why all the shaman stuff? Because although Masar, even with all their claws and fangs are walking arsenals already, they surely have other ways to fight and utilize magic. Not like unicorns with levitation and transformation.... or like zebra potions... but more like utilizing the forces of nature itself.
And while the elemental bending like Avatar springs to mind, this would be only one specialized way to utilize nature. What's really popular among Masar is body bending, augmenting the own body with the forces of nature (natural magic of Equis) to become faster (fast as the wind), stronger (strong as a bear), more resilient (hard as stone) or find a way into the thoughts of the prey (... Yeah... I got nothing...). The next chapter will give you a deeper insight into Masar society, high society to be precise as we expect some important guests in Equestria. Expect things to happen.

I made up my mind for Tyler's past. And the more and more I thought about it, the chances for it being a military thing shrinked and shrinked more and more. Besides: Way too many people tend to make HiE fics with soldiers, so I decided to exclude a purely military career for Tyler since that would be ordinary (With Flynn and Rachel I already have 2 soldiers of the U.S. Army and Air Force). Nonetheless, the private sector also has something up its sleeve as well, yet I won't go into detail right now since it could spoil the beginning of the next chapter. However, we already know that Tyler knows a thing or two about organization, can identify weapons simply by looking at them and isn't very proud of his past, so that should narrow the possible things down. Rick Marshall will have the files ready for the chapter, don't worry. Aaaaannnd I will have a cameo of some sorts. I guess some will notice right away.

I'm thinking of opening for a Q&A for the story for now, so feel free to ask per comment or PM. Maybe I can think of a way to answer without spoiling in the next blogpost. On to my comments about the other stuff.
That is what a female looks like. Cute. Now you got me wondering if a mage like her will also end up join.
In all seriousness though, I imagine that the masar look more like ligers, and have more prominent big cat muzzles. Also, their magic sounds pretty awesome. It sounds like the more traditional RPG magic types. Like from Final Fantasy.
As for your chosen past for Tyler, I look forward to reading about it. As well as more world building on the Masar.

Though why none of your other readers aren't saying anything at all I don't know. It is weird because you do have plenty, and plenty of followers.
