I've been promising you guys a new story for a couple weeks now. Like I said in my last blog post, it's coming along, but it's still going to be a couple weeks before "Three Nights" is fit to publish.
That said, Equestria Daily has decided to host a Writer's Training Grounds Event to go along with each episode of the new season, and as much as I should be working on my graduate studies, I couldn't resist giving this a go.
So here you are: EQD Writer's Training Grounds – Bradel Edition. This has my answer to the EQD prompt on Bats. I'll be adding one new story each week as the season progresses, and they'll all be quite short—EQD is requesting that the stories come in between 1000 and 1500 words. That's not a lot of room for full exploration of a concept, but it's enough to have a little fun anyway.
The deadline for story submission on the first Training Grounds prompt is Tuesday at 11:59 PM Pacific Time, which means you all have plenty of time to crank out a story of the requisite length if you too would like to participate. And since I like to encourage and help out with writing, I'll make you a deal. I'm not going to promise that I'll read and comment on every entry to the Training Grounds event, but I will read and comment on any entry you tell me about. Just drop me a note in the comments here, and I'll make sure I take a look and get back to you with something before the next prompt rolls around.

Hm. I've read the rules on EqD and don't find anything that says the story submitted has to be split out as a "FimFiction Story" so this sounds like a perfectly legit use. Darnit, now I've got to go do one too. "Princess Twilight Sparkle - Mistress of the Night" is just too tempting on so many levels of vampony-ness.
