A Few Days Late · 7:19pm Dec 16th, 2013
So, I promised a Spread update by Friday, and it's now Monday. Going home from college took up a lot of my time last weekend, but now that things are settling I can hopefully return to a more frequent writing schedule.
The chapter ended up being about Applejack and Fluttershy when it should have also included a segment with Twilight, Rarity, and Spike. But I think it'll be better if I save that for the next chapter.
In other news, the story will have more than 50,000 words with this update, and I think it'll end up at more than half the length of Filly Fooling. Pretty remarkable when you consider I originally was going to write this in a week at the end of summer. I'm glad I didn't do that, as it would have been far worse if I had rushed it. I just didn't expect to be writing this much about it.
Well, I hope you continue to enjoy it, and I'll try to have the next update up sooner. I hate to leave you guys waiting, after all.
Wait a minute!!!
You're the one that is the author of FILLY FOOLING??!!
Seriously, I enjoyed it!!! Sure there were some parts that I was less excited about it (for example, the RariTwi run-around, though the way Twilight broke Rarity's heart literally hurt me to tears, not to mention Rarity actually raping Spike, yet Spike forgives Rarity for it because he found an actual creature that loved him for him). It was a very plausible way of exploring what happens when long-time friends start to see them as more than friends, and in each of their unique, yet connected ways and methods, they all (Spike as well) realized what it truly means to be in love, and that they all realized the difference between a puppy crush, friends w/ benefits (if they are mentally mature about it), and actual romance/attraction, regardless whether one is straight (Twilight/Big Mac) or gay (Applejack/Rainbow Dash, tecnically RD said that she is bisexual).
And I did enjoy at the end, that Spike did get a special someone for his own (though it's a bit of a copout to me because you just gave him a dragoness, instead of another mare), because it seemed to me at first glance that you were intentionally excluding him because of age or preference for certain ships (Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, I know and am well aware of it--Sparity and Spilight for LIFE )
I guess I'm running long, so I'll try to make it short: I truly do like--no, love--your work on Spread. And even though I'm disappointed that at first glance it seemed to be just another "Let's break Spike's heart by shipping all the mares with each other and as added insult/injury, ship Spike's crush with Spike's sister" work, I can tell that despite your taste of shipping, you truly do have confort and pride in all of your main characters. I'm looking forward to how you are going to conclude it, and that everypony (and dragon) truly do have a very happy ending.

P.S.: Try to ship him with someone that truly cares, and please try to not break his heart more than you already have. I understand that you probably see him as just a kid, but at least you respect him, unlike countless other authors that throw him away like garbage (and yes, I, myself am guilty of it either directly or by association). I do respect you.
1615595 Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I'm still debating what I want to do with Spike, but you'll see that play out towards the story's end.
