"Daring Don't" and "The Secret of the Fourth Wall" · 3:15pm Dec 11th, 2013

Well!

Now that fimfic's new tagging system is in place, and with a massive shift in canon regarding Daring Do, this is as good a time as any to break the radio silence.

"What? Who are you? I don't remember subscribing to you!" is what I hear you say.
Oh god, it's been eight months again since the last chapter, hasn't it.

In my defense, I haven't only been working on the next chapter ... Though I'd prefer not to make promises I cannot predict I'll be able to keep or not. :trixieshiftright:

I figure most people won't care reading about me whining about the details, so I'll just exclude that into a separate blog post and refer people to that whenever I need to. :derpytongue2:

Well. What can I say - the story's definitely no longer canon-compatible, that's blantantly obvious. It's a risk for every fanfic-writer.

And to that I say - well, thank Celestia at least it's blatantly obvious. Because then people won't confuse the story for a post-s04e04 fic. :derpytongue2:
Few things would be more annoying than the reader getting sucked out of the experience by an unexpected divergence from canon in the middle of a chapter, rather than a direct and straight forward one apparent right from the start. :twilightoops:

For the sake of this story, Daring Do remains a fictional character, the author remains anonymous (at least for now), and the "Daring Do"-saga takes place ~50-60 years in the past.

As for the massive amount of hinted-at "Daring Do"-lore, I guess I'll cherry-pick my own head-fanon there. :raritywink:

Though asides from seeing the episode, I'll yet have to dive into all the analysis videos to gather all of its implications.
(Geez. Somepony should seriously do a weekly "impact on fanon"-segment in their shows, hinting at what has changed in canon, what the implications are for the typical fanon-assumptions, and what new fanfiction-goldmines there could be. *hint, hint, wink, nudge* :trollestia:)

Hmm... Did anypony else catch the part where Daring said the whole "ring of destiny" shtick would give Ahuizotl 800 years of good luck? Huh. I always figured Ahuizotl was a regular evil-doer of the "mortal" variety.

This could mean one of 5 things:
1. Ahuizotl is either immortal or has a very long life-span.
2. The "destiny rings" by themselves are the most underplayed immortality-granting artifact in the multiverse. ^_^;
3. Ahuizotl is planning to become immortal through use of some other dark magical artifact akin to a "deal with the devil at the cost of your soul". Think King Sombra. He used to be a mortal unicorn.
4. Ahuizotl is planning to stuff 800 years worth of good luck into the few remaining decades of his life. Heh. Wouldn't that be luck-overkill?
5. Or the boring option: The rest of the 800 years of good luck become invalid after Ahuizotl dies at the end of his regular life-span. :-P

I mean... If Ahuizotl was immortal / incredibly long-lived - think of the implications. Heck, here's a story-concept by itself: "Daring Do grew old. Ahuizotl did not." :rainbowderp:

Ah well, that's for somepony else to write. :derpytongue2:

Now where was I -

...Anyway. I've got plans for this story I've been turning around in my head for the past 1.5 years. I don't exactly intent to throw those outta the window.

And based on general fanon-assumptions, there's probably gonna be something in there that'll turn out to become an issue sometime later down the road. :derpyderp2:
(Not to mention with my track-record season 4 will be long-since over when some of those plans still relying on the old canon come to fruition. Hopefully that won't confuse future readers. :twilightsheepish:)

The only thing that still slightly irks me right now is that this story strongly works with the meta-element.
Rainbow Dash's aspect of the story suddenly splitting off from canon makes it loose a bit of its thunder there. :trixieshiftright:
It's like going from "Dash is aware she is inside a story" to "Dash is aware she is inside a fanfiction about a story, that is diverging from canon".

That kind of thing tends to stretch suspense of disbelief a bit too far. :ajbemused:

And last, but not least -

Q&A: When will Chapter 8 come out?

Don't worry, it'll be (kinda) soon...ish. :twistnerd::twilightblush:

Q&A: What happened to "Pinkieviduality"?

Oh boy, this is a tricky one. :rainbowderp:

If you'd asked me a few months ago I'd have told you it's on hiatus. But I just (mostly) finished a particularly difficult scene only last sunday. The ironic thing is that the hardest part is the first act. I know for a fact that it'll get much easier to write later on. The third act, where Mirror Pinkie returns to Ponyville practically writes itself. And I've got some amazing ideas for the "epilogue". But of course, it's the first act that sets everything up, introduced the OC-cast, and has Mirror Pinkie mingle with them for the first time that's taking me forever. :facehoof:

So... it's release is nowhere even close on the horizon, but I find the idea far too enticing to abandon it either.
I hope to eventually power through the difficult first act, though "Daring Do" takes precedence over "Pinkieviduality", at any rate.

Q&A: Are you going to post more blog-entries? We never hear from you.

What? You care? :rainbowderp:

Err, I mean - you're interested in my ramblings on MLP:FiM and posting inspirational fanfiction scenarios, like...

"What if the mane six' heoric effort for defeating Nightmare Moon actually made them famous?" *

"But Spike, what am I supposed to do with these 14 tickets to the Grand Galoping Gala? Give them to my friends? They've already got at least four tickets each!"
"I wish Rainbow Dash would notice me. But now she's got like a million fans! Sigh..."
"Oh, hey, Sweetie Belle! Ohmygosh, we're so, like, total fans of your sister's summer fasion line. Can we sit next to you? . . . You, ehehe, you know that what we said about you not having a cutie mark, was, like, totally just a little joke, right? Eheheheh..."
"GASP! That blue magician assaulted the Element of Honesty! Everypony, get your pitchforks!"

Or "Timetraveling Changeling From the Future".**
And I'm sorry, but I'm afraid the Doctor is currently out of town.

* Like the concept? Go ahead, write it out! Feel free to brainstorm me for more ideas on the subject. :)
** Not actually a story currently being written. Maybe someday in the future.***
*** Presumably the very distant future.

Comments ( 12 )

Let's see, pick that post one by one apart to give statements too...

1. Daring Doo and the Fourth Wall
Wow, talk about a nudge from the Almighty! Now that the show ITSELF has posted something new about Daring Doo and the Shipfics go wild, you are basically forced to continue your own, in my oppinion REALLY good story, just not to be swept under the carpet. And you left at such an evil cliffhanger too!
I wonder how the Reading of that story on youtube is progressing...I distinctly remember some hints at that in author notes and the like...could be wrong about that last one though...:applejackunsure:

2. Ahuizotls 800 years of luck:
Well, there are a lot of different possibilities too. Like
- Ahuizotl finished some dark ritual some time ago that lets him resurrect after dying and lives
the 800 years like this, basically a bastard version of your 1st or 3rd point.
- The 'curse' could hit his offspring too, you know?
- What if his goal weren't the 800 year of luck for him (thus pointing at your 4th or 5th point)
but 800 years of bad luck to everypony else?

Also another thing to consider: Would the luck only work while Ahuizotl was in the pyramid? Would all the remaining luck disappear when the rings were destroyed 'after activation'? How exactly would this luck affect him? Like visiting some dark ruins and 'just stumble' upon the treasure inside? Or miraculously beat Daring every time they meet? The whole thing sounds too fishy to me to actually work...

3. About meta and canon:

We have time travelling ponies already. We have ancient curses too. We have MAGIC and know just how easily that can fuck up entire towns let alone single ponies...just assume that some villain or another at least partially won and Daring Doo is sent through time - and probably dimension - itself. Now there would be a reason for Daring Doo to keep from others away (after all, who knows how the curse might interact with them) and earn some fast bits with posting old adventures. The disguise would be another failsafe to ensure her safety through obscurity.

With all that in place, we need just some years with Daring practically only being reminiscent of her past, with nopony she keeps close to herself and we meet snarky A.K.Yearling herself. So, with a lot of tweaking, your story could still (shakily) be tied into canon!

4. About Pinkieviduality:

Sounds like a real pickle you have there. Nevertheless, your loyal readers believe in you!...after 8 months of not hearing anything from you. Meh, you'll still be fine! Simply eat some cupcakes (not of the munchy-version of friends please) and smile, smile, smile. Oh and write of course. :pinkiehappy:

5. About Caring AND Fanfic scenarios:

While I won't answer each and every blog-post, I definitely care. I'm sure with great stories just as yours planned, any kind of status update would definitely help deal with the wait for the next chapter. Even if it's 'oh the chapter will come out later, just got hit by the worst case of flu in my entire life', it's still news. It keeps you on the ball too. :ajsmug:

Famous Mane Six...I kinda like the idea. Although I only believe that it will hold for a short amount of time. Remember how absorbed Rarity got into the social highlife? How RD initally only cared for recognition after becoming famous the first time? What about Pinkie? She won't want to 'disappoint any new friends' and 'miss any parties' with them too! I'd like to think that this story - if taken with a speck of seriousness - could be quite the story. Of course, the route with a comedy approach is also open and does not necessarily needs to be left out even when the story has a serious tone in general.
Also, as a funny note - the scene with Blueblood and Rarity could go the complete opposite way it did in canon...
"But Rarity, this IS your fellow Elemental Bearers stand with her famous Applecooking. Won't you at least try some?"
"No, Blueblood, I won't touch any of this...this mundane stuff. Didn't you notice the plates with [insert overly costly snack for the rich ponies] inside? Come on, we're going."

Time Travelling Changeling from the Future sounds kinda like work for Dr. Whooves...and pretty usual at that. But, written from the perspective of a changeling (ESPECIALLY if there is a hivemind involved) could make this interesting. Although it would probably be harder to write than your other idea.

See you in some comments (either for blogs or for stories) again :twilightsheepish:

I think It would be interesting If the non dimensional travelers of the elements of harmony got that worlds Daring Do to help in the rescue of Rainbow Dash.

Just sayin'.
Edit:*Looks at name of author*
"A toaster is a death ray, with a smaller power supply."
That is all.

Ahuizotl being immortal was actually a head cannon of mine before this episode.

1597285
Which, again, raises the question:

What happens when Daring grows old and Ahuizotl doesn't? :rainbowhuh:

I suppose Daring would inevitably have to take on an apprentice - just as Daring herself must've had a predecessor who'd previously foiled Ahuizotl's schemes.

Hm. I wonder what the fanon-ly accepted Daring Do / Rainbow Dash age-difference is?
I always pictured Daring Do as about just a few years older than Dash's age...

Though after the episode, judging purely by her voice, I'm not so sure anymore. :derpyderp2:

1596581 So... you want to have two Daring Dos in the story, if I read that right? :applejackconfused:

1602641
She could do that. Though traditionally, when dealing with an immortal foe most heroes tend to seal them away in some sort of incredible prison, alternate dimension or magical artifact.

In Equestria, they favor stoning and mooning as means of dealing with this issue.

1603005 ...Though the fact that she hasn't already, and Ahuizotl has been around since the beginning of the book-series seems to strongly discourage the notion for her to do so, or be able to do so. :derpytongue2:

1602646
Yes, I think it could be an interesting turn of events. The five that did not go through the rift could come across the Daring Do of the canon world and team up to try and find out the cause of the rift that sucked up rainbow in an attempt to fix it.
It is still up to you, I'm just throwing in some ideas.

1603048
Maybe she just needs the right mcguffin to do the job. :rainbowwild:

Can I use your story as a setting for my other story "The Fourth Wall Restaurant"? I need to work more on the chapters and I thought that this place would be a great work on my story.

How it would work out? You'll have to wait and see. (If you say yes, that is.)

1596547 Wow! Thanks for such a lengthy reply, and the compliments therein! Let me return the favor. :raritywink:

"And you left at such an evil cliffhanger too!"
Ah, yeah. Sorry about that. :twilightblush:
Thing is, I never wanted to end on that cliffhanger. :-/ I kinda would've gone on and written what now is going to be "chapter 8" as the second half of chapter 7, before releasing it. ...Which of course would've delayed chapter 7 a whole lot longer. :facehoof:
But due to personal RL circumstances, at the time I just wanted to get something done and posted, and that cliffhanger was the natural point to cut the chapter in half. :twilightoops:

"I wonder how the Reading of that story on youtube is progressing"
I'm not entirely sure what you mean. For every chapter, straight on release, there is a link, right on the very top, to a text-to-speech generated audio-book reading of that chapter. :ajsmug:

Though I put those up as mp3-files hosted on my own website, not as a youtube-video.

For chapter 5, I also went the extra-mile and put in some carefully edited situation-appropriate background music. :rainbowdetermined2:
That turned out really really well in my opinion, though as of today only about two or three people ever even mentioned listening to that. >_<
I'm currently looking into if I should try adding situation-appropriate background music for chapter 8 as well.

In chapter 6 - really just a one-page chapter - I also provided a human narration to see how people liked that... except not a single person ever commented on it. :unsuresweetie:
Plus, it took me about three hours just to record and edit something the text-to-speech engine could do in 6 minutes. Granted, adding the proper background music takes far longer, but it also feels much more rewarding then just using "human narration".

Heh. You don't know my plans. To that all I have to say is this quote from "Inception":
"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, Darling." :raritywink:

"Ahuizotls 800 years of luck / How exactly would this luck affect him?"

I dunno. Though my personal headcanon is that there is some over-arching magical force - "Harmony", if you will - guiding a pony's destiny, responsible for cutiemarks, and generally trying to stack the odds in favor of a harmonic outcome, at least on a larger scale. It doesn't outright stop villains, like e.g. Sombra, but it makes sure that there's always a chance for harmony to prevail in the end.

I now believe that force to be the Tree of Harmony. :rainbowderp:

Which, if you think about it, would imply some real nasty consequences had the mane 6 not given back the Elements of Harmony. o_O;;

How would Ahuizotl get "lucky"? Probably by exploiting that kind of over-arching magical force, or some dark-magic equivalent thereof. Of course, if his luck only worked within the pyramid, that'd be a funny ironic twist. Like the immortal guardian in Indiana Jones, who could only remain immortal as long as he stayed close in his cave.

"About Pinkieviduality"
images3.wikia.nocookie.net/mlp/images/thumb/1/19/Comforting_Pinkie_Pie_style.gif/500px-Comforting_Pinkie_Pie_style.gif

The hardest part is writing a believable OC cast, their first interactions with Mirror Pinkie, and how they'd come to accept her for who she is. After all, to someone who doesn't know what's going on inside her head, Mirror Pinkie acts completely irrational, with little to no regard for property or personal space - even more so than Pinkie Pie herself. :pinkiegasp:
If you met someone seemingly completely crazy, you'd probably just try to back away slowly and run for it, rather than try to make friends. So... yeah, that's tricky. :twilightsheepish:

"About Caring AND Fanfic scenarios"
Heh, the "what, you care?" was just an opening line gag. :twilightsheepish: Thanks for caring, anyway. ;-)

"Time Travelling Changeling from the Future sounds kinda like work for Dr. Whooves...and pretty usual at that."

Huh. Maybe I should've phrased it differently. Let me try this again. This is the artwork description I posted alongside the picture on deviantArt:

What story does this image tell you?

Fanfic scenario improv time! :pinkiehappy:

Bonus points, if you can subvert as many clichés as possible! :raritywink:

Hint:
Look at the typical clichés for "time traveler from the future" and "changeling protagonist in pony society".
Take those situations as reference points for a story - and then have the character react differently. :twistnerd:

Hard mode:
- Trying to keep interactions with historical figures to a minimum (Obligatory Pinkie Pie party not withstanding) ;-)
- No Doctor Whooves.

I actually already have a more or less solid plot figured out, since I've been tossing the idea around in my head for a couple months - but I figured I should hold off writing it for the time being, focuss more on "Daring Do" and "Pinkieviduality". (And no, the plot I have in mind doesn't involve Doctor Whooves at all.)
But I wanted to see what other ideas people might come up with, just based on the image and the concept by itself. :derpytongue2:

Hmm... A timetravel fic involding a hivemind, you say? Now how would you figure this would go?
a) The future-ling having access to the present-hivemind, giving the Queen all of his future-info instantly.
b) The future-ling getting overwhelmed by the unfamiliar hivemind of the present/past, and/or trying to stay under the hivemind's radar?

"Famous Mane Six"

gameinformer.com/cfs-filesystemfile.ashx/__key/CommunityServer-Components-ImageFileViewer/CommunityServer-Discussions-Components-Files-14492/1263.the_5F00_mane_5F00_6_5F005F00_suited_5F00_and_5F00_suave_5F00_by_5F00_rautakoura_2D00_d4jrdlt.jpg_2D00_610x0.jpg

There's definitely some potential there, though I myself wouldn't know how to write that type of story in a time-efficient way and thusly would leave some other writer to explore the concept. :twilightsheepish:

Yeah, extreme fame might not exactly be the best thing for their friendship.

I suppose Twilight might end up writing some very bizarre friendship reports to Celestia. Either that, or she'd go bonkers trying to "organize" her friendships for higher efficiency so she'd get better writing material. :pinkiecrazy:

Though if it became too glaringly obvious that their friendships are suffering, Celestia might intervene. --- Or heck, that could be a comedic subplot. Celestia sets up all those obstacles and sends the main six on their way for a bonding experience ... only for the reporters and fans to mess with her plans, and the subsequent friendship report implying they learned the completely wrong lesson, causing Celestia to grind her teeth. :facehoof:

And yes, this could completely change character arcs - One could probably go through all season 1 episodes and see how events would play out differently. As a rule of thumbhoof, just add a bunch of reporters, hordes of adoring fans willing to do everything for the mane six, some rich marketing ponies trying to bride them with favors to get a "Element bearer" endorsement deal, and newspapers constantly speculating about every little detail of their daily life into the mix of an episode, and see how it changes things. :derpytongue2:

Poor Fluttershy... constantly swarmed by reporters, and then having Photo Finish come out of nowhere demanding to make her even more famous. I think she might end up getting a personal body guard against the reporters. ....... Just imagine Photo Finish getting dealt with by Iron Will, Fluttershy's new (but probably temporary) bodyguard. XD

The CMC would probably never form - not in the same way as we know them, since Sweetie Belle and AB wouldn't get teased for being "blank flanks" anymore. Sweetie Belle and Applebloom would get together, yeah - both of them being relatives of famous Element-bearers, they'd get swarmed by ponies trying to earn their favour. Then, left on the sidelines there's Scootaloo - and Twist. Remember how the show introduced Twist as Applebloom's friend, but then completely forgot about her? Or, alternatively, Scootaloo desperate to catch Rainbow Dash's attention, might attempt to set up a meeting through her connection to Sweetie Belle, being Rarity's sister and all.

There could be some interesting friendship lessons to be learned here! :-)

Of course the climax of the story could be the season 2 opener, when Discord breaks free. He'd probably do things completely differently - just look at the newspapers to gather the mane six' weakspots, and make fun of them on a more personal level.

Heck, depending on how fame might've gotten between the six friends, maybe he wouldn't even have to discord them. Even then, it should definitelly not be perfectly symetrical. Maybe Twilight did become friends with them all, but they didn't become all friends with each other. Like you suggested - Rarity never got over her differences with Applejack, and Rainbow Dash is too absorbed in her fame to play pranks with Pinkie Pie. Or something. Not necessarily disliking each other, but simply not liking each other that much. :-P

Or not. I dunno. :P

But it's an alternate universe that definitelly warrants some exploring. Just not by me, I guess. ^_^;

To be perfectly honest, I kinda stumbled on some video reading this story out loud somewhere. Since I know about the Readings of certain fics, I kinda figured that this was one of those videos too...but if I watched them at your site, then I watched them there. :rainbowderp:

As for commenting on them...I kinda just watched one of these and saw that there were a bunch of these videos out. So from there stems my lack of comments there. Or I was distracted or something. But without really listening to it - to go the extra mile with background music AND a narration if the chapter is shorter than usually shows dedication. While I helped General Soarin with such a reading once and even with only catching the tailwind of it (he was using one of my OC's and wanted my opinion about how she should sound and the like) I was floored how much work goes into one voice and one line and how amateurish it still could sound. So, props to you, man (or woman, as I don't want to discriminate pegasisters)

Heh. You don't know my plans. To that all I have to say is this quote from "Inception":

"You mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger, Darling." :raritywink:

So you WANT to get swarmed by all my possible thoughts about this one? I purposely kept this part brief, as to not unnecessarily bloat the entire point to the extreme...

buuuuut if you want to listen to all these points I'll indulge you.

1. Time Travel: We've seen Twilight, and my headcannon is that there are more Time Travel spells than the one that was shown. After all, the Crystal Empire vanished for a thousand years just to 'conveniently appear with all ponies intact'. Sounds time-based shenanigans to me. And the Alicorn-potion from season 4 sounds like something time-related too.

So, with all these 'good magic examples', I'm quite positive that there are 'evil magic versions' too. Take a crafty unicorn studied in the Dark Arts, give him some power amplification and let the spell loose on poor little Miss-Indiana-Jones-Rip-Off. It would make more sense to send her forward in time, especially if it was a lonely forest the whole thing happened in. Daring is stranded in the future and finds no way back - so she makes some bits by selling her old adventures in bookform. And during that she met some of her enemies again, like Ahuizotl (the name sounds like a weird pun on a certain snake...:applejackunsure:) and so Miss Do more or less resumes her old job but without her support of friends/colleagues and the like she grows an unhealthy distrust for others.

2. Time Travel, Version Two basically involves getting sent back in time, completely with a little memory wipe to make her forget Rainbow Dash and company. So when she arrives back then, she notices that she can't really write about her adventures with more/stronger enemies AND there are more treasures to collect (there even could be more knowledge about how these were raided from the future tucked away, Daring IS really into Archeology after all) so Miss Do simply takes her job as adventurer as a full-time-version and leaves the books behind.

3. Magic Curse:
So, how about magic curses? We've seen magic transform and take away things, fix things back together and change positions of objects. Why not a curse that turns an existing pony into a fictional one? And since the whole knowledge of the characters depend on what in the books is written, there would be a simple explanation as to why Daring Do doesn't remember/recognize Dash.

Any other options would be variations or specifications of these three. However, there is one basic possibility that wasn't mentioned before...
4. Discords present:
The whole thing with Dash getting 'sucked' into an adventure novel of her favorite fictional pony sounds a lot like something a certain god of chaos would do - IF he would want to show his friend Fluttershy that he cares about her friends and is willing to grant them gifts. The 'precognition' would simply be a little extra for her to enjoy the experience the whole thing even more.

my personal headcanon

I won't gonna mess with your headcanon, the only thing I've got to mention is - we have Celestia and Luna. Cadence and Sombra/Crysallis. Twilight is still too 'fresh' to really have an archrival. So which godlike creature has no counterpart? That's right, Mister Discord himself. Wonder how the Windigos tie into this, though...

As for how that would affect Auizotl...I'm not really sure. Making sure that there's always a chance for harmony to prevail at the end sounds kinda...vague. He already HAS a chance to beat the adventurer and frequently manages to get her caught in death traps. How would he need more of that?

Which, if you think about it, would imply some real nasty consequences had the mane 6 not given back the Elements of Harmony.

The more interesting thing is - is the locked box gonna affect the tree in the same way or is that a 'gift, free of charge'. How would that even be possible if it was such a force?

Of course, if his luck only worked within the pyramid, that'd be a funny ironic twist. Like the immortal guardian in Indiana Jones, who could only remain immortal as long as he stayed close in his cave.

I can just imagine him gloating over the beaten Daring, stepping outside the temple to get real close to her and just slips on a conveniently placed banana peel before even reaching her. :rainbowlaugh:

So... yeah, that's tricky.

I'm sure you will prevail against all odds to write another wonderful story for us readers to enjoy! Or, if you don't, there won't be too many that actually remember about it and your readers won't be too heartbroken over it. :twistnerd:

Thanks for caring, anyway. ;-)

While that was entirely possible, I just wanted to tell you that someone cares. People take simple things for granted way too often, so a reinforcement of your belief (and with that a possibly faster update, as motivation works wonders :trixieshiftright:) just feels necessary for me. From time to time at least.

But I wanted to see what other ideas people might come up with, just based on the image and the concept by itself.

My first thought was of a ponified version of Back to the Future...the second movie of the trilogy to be exact. But if it's NOT clichée and does NOT involve Dr. Whooves (I like that pony and Dr.Who but there are SPELLS OF TIME TRAVEL for a reason in the canon. Can you really trust Celestia not to visit back for a few hours to spend time with her sisters after missing her for a few hundred years for example?) then I'm interested in it.

Well, version a) would be quite boring...as the bad guys win through a Deus Ex Machina. Even with limited info, any drone would remember the love-powered shield that pushed them out of town. A simple change of plans that lets the two ponies never really touch could shortcircuit any resistance before it even started.

Version b) however sounds like something that could become quite interesting. The 'threat that was made against the kingdom' would get a lot more credibility with that. After all, this drone just remembers the pain of defeat, not the nuances why it happened. (Or that's how I imagine it to be)

And like any good drone it does what's best for the hive, mainly changing as much as a simple drone can do. And since it acts against the 'past' Queens orders, it hides from the Hive mind as much as possible. The drone could also try to collect Cadence for the Hive, as her magic literally feeds it. So keep one pony fed and you have a full hive that's healthy. That should easily be accomplished with a race of shapeshifters.

Also, just as a little extra - who says that the single drone has to act alone? A small team can be quite effective as seen by the fighters that who's namesake is related to monkeys.

There's definitely some potential there, though I myself wouldn't know how to write that type of story in a time-efficient way and thusly would leave some other writer to explore the concept. :twilightsheepish:

Story of my life. I know way too many good ideas that beg to be written and can't for some reason or another.

Yeah, extreme fame might not exactly be the best thing for their friendship.

Applejack might be interesting to write. A completely honest earth pony with a big family and no implied parents suddenly getting famous? 'Equipped' with a particularly strong set of backhooves and a big brother that's even scarier in that regard (except if it involves cakes which he can't life for some reason)? Sounds like quite a volatlie situation that could explode in one way or another rather fast.

I'd think Fluttershy would take her 'new Fluttershy' persona and subsequent stare to a new level when being pushed to much by nosy ponies. On the other hands, think of all the animals she can help with the publicitiy. :pinkiehappy:

I like the idea about the plot point of Celestia trying to set them straight and failing every turn. Could be some kind of inverse cosmic karma if you want to call it that. Make it an Alicorn thing - every Alicorn tries to set them straight in their own way, except that their plans fail or backfire because of the mentioned reporters and fans. (God, think of Tara Strong asking for a little something (e.g. like tissues) at a MLP-convention and you get a creepy look at how...dedicated some can be)

While not in season 1, the Flim Flam brothers could be quite funny as their 'competition' is if they are good enough to help and AJ's simply too stubborn (and possibly snubbish in her own way) to accept it?

As for the CMC - why not simply make Scootaloo actually related (though not as sisters but more like cousins) to Rainbow Dash? I'd hate to see her getting all bitter about not meeting RD and stuff. Then again, she could be the 'president' of the RD fan-club and collect the whole information. Sounds reeeeeeaaaaally creepy though.

Never plan not too far. I can see a lot of interesting situations in season 2 or three for the ponies, expecially when they're famous. Think of Rarities fashion show that turned Fluttershy famous? Multiply that with both of them being famous and a lot of reassuring 'friends' that help her with her troubles afterwards. Or think about the dragon migration! Stealthy dragon disguise no more - and I guess Spike would catch the tailwind of Twilights fame too and become a bit big-headed.

Discord could 'discord' them to be not famous if they are willing to battle him. Think of all these big, bulging egos suddenly not being polstered and only surrounded by five equally pampered mares? Sounds like quite the horror for me!

Yeah, we could probably fangasm over the whole idea for days...the comments take long enough for that to happen soon x3
