Some great Doctor Who quotes · 6:11pm Dec 7th, 2013
The First Doctor - (William Hartnell)
"One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine. Goodbye, Susan. Goodbye, my dear."
The Second Doctor - (Patrick Troughton)
"Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables one to be wrong with authority."
The Third Doctor - (Jon Pertwee)
"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."
The Fourth Doctor - (Tom Baker)
"There’s no point being grown-up if you can’t be childish sometimes."
The Fifth Doctor - (Peter Davison)
The Doctor: “When did you last have the pleasure of smelling a flower, watching a sunset, eating a well-prepared meal?”
Cyberleader: “These things are irrelevant.”
The Doctor: “For some people, small, beautiful events are what life is all about!”
The Sixth Doctor - (Colin Baker)
"In all my travelings throughout the universe, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilisation… Dedecant, degenerate, and rotten to the core… Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen - they’re still in the nursery compared to us! Ten million years of absolute power - that’s what it takes to be really corrupt!"
The Seventh Doctor - (Sylvester McCoy)
"Yes, that’s right, you’re going. You’ve been gone for ages. You’re already gone. You’re still here. You’ve just arrived. I haven’t even met you yet. It all depends on who you are and how you look at it. Strange business, time."
The Eighth Doctor - (Paul McGann)
Ohila: “No one could survive that crash.”
The Doctor: “I did.”
Ohila: “No. We restored you to life, but it’s a temporary measure. You have a little under four minutes.”
The Doctor: “Four minutes? That’s ages! What if I get bored? I need a television, a couple of books. Anyone for chess? Bring me knitting.”
The Ninth Doctor - (John Hurt)
"Great men are born in fire, it is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame."
The Tenth Doctor - (Christopher Eccleston)
"Rose… before I go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And do you know what? [Pause] So was I!"
The Eleventh Doctor - (David Tennant)
"I’m the Doctor. I’m a Time Lord. I’m from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I’m 903 years old, and I’m the man who’s gonna save your lives and all six billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that?"
The Twelfth Doctor - (Matt Smith)
"Nobody important. Blimey, that’s amazing. D’you know, in 900 years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before."
So do you guys have any other great Doctor quotes? i made this because 11 & 12 get quoted alot, but the others don't seem to get as much love.
It's going to be hard getting used to the fact that Nine, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve aren't really Nine, Ten, Eleven, and Twelve.
1581996 Nah, I've already accepted it. I loved John Hurt's Doctor anyway
1582023
I did too, but....
It's going to be confusing to have conversations about the Eleventh Doctor and not know whether the other is talking main Doctors only, or including John Hurt. It'll take a lot of getting used to, and until we have a real consensus, or confirmation from the show staff, the Doctor Who fandom is going to be really... Confusing.
I've seen people calling the main Doctors by their normal numbers, like David Tennant is Ten, Matt Smith is Eleven, and calling John Hurt's Doctor the War Doctor, as he's credited in Day of The Doctor.
1582114 I'd accept either. To me though, he's the ninth.
1582134
Eh. I, personally, will be calling John Hurt's Doctor the War Doctor, because I can't resist having David TENnant be the Tenth Doctor.
1582227 Excellent point
I agree. Hurt did fantastic, but unlike all the others, he used a specific potion to become it, thus he's still 8 in my eyes, just changed to have specific skills for what was needed. 8 1/2, if you would. Or the War doctor. whichever you wanna call it.
I'm new to the whole Doctor Who fandom so who is John Hurt? I only refer to Christopher Eccleston as the ninth, David Tennant as the tenth and so on and so forth. Where is he from?
1582890 He comes from the 50th special. I can't say too much without spoilers.
1582890 Well, he's technically more like the 8th and a half Doctor, and much like the 8th and a half President of the United State, Lord Quentin Trimbly, Esquire, (that's a Gravity Falls reference, in case you don't understand my gibberish) he was covered up from history due to shameful actions. Long story short, the Doctor REALLY doesn't like to talk about that particular regeneration and (prior to the 50th Anniversary special) didn't even consider "that guy" to be a true Doctor.
1581996
You know, The song on Tennant's regeneration is called Vale decem And the same words are part of the song.
"Vale decem" means from Latin "Goodbye Ten" or "farewell Ten"
So they are denying their own words.
