OMG ! :o
Not to sound too obvious; but I had being extremely looking forward to it since it's my first season premier since I became a brony.
I will start with the few things that I didn't like.
Pinkie Pie intelligence level was portrayed to be below my expectations.
She was looking at coloring books during a crisis, it totally gave the impression that Pinkie Pie has no common sense at all.
It's well know that Pinkie lack a lot of common sense; but this takes it to a whole new level.
With Pinkie Pie spacing out to think about frosting, my thoughts were that it was too generic, sure in Pinkie Pie character description on the hub page says something along the lines of loving only her friends more than sweets, and nothing before now really went that far; but this is bound to become a meme.
All the characters reactions to the new circumstances were slightly slower than I would have expected; which I suspect was made to help a younger audience (little girls) to relate to them and to make the conflict easier to digest. (also it provides more room for character development)
Twilight is still an obsessive freak, which after giving it much thought, I can't see a down side for. This completely stops any arguments that Twilight has become another Mary Sue. Sure I was upset on the slow pace for character progress; but hey entertainment takes priority and that sure will help create future plot lines.
One of the things I am mostly looking forward in this season is new stallions(cause we seriously need more), and so far with the new colors of the royal guards and voices I believe that the MLP staff will deliver on that throughout the season.
I loved the flashbacks as I know I'm not the only one however I was a little confused by the decision of having Celestia use six instead of five of the elements of harmony. I just can't wait to see what the community and Hasbro uses to explain that! 
I also loved the canon Discord. (he is so likable) (seriously).
Now lets talk about how everyone's head canon adapting to this. I think they made it as easy as they could the Everfree having earth and weather chaos magic and all; of course, there were going to be disappointments, we all knew that. I can picture poor Kolwynia freaking out wile watching the premier, he just finished the Discord saga in which Discord was turned to stone by Celestia and Luna in his story Celestia in Excelsis I personally liked his version better it had a lot more depth .. Now he might reluctantly need to add an AU tag. 
Well the next episode will be in a week November 30 its implications shouldn't be as radical as what the premier brought so know we can take a little break...

Character flaws are what make a character interesting. Expect a *lot* of wing-based pratfalls and unexpected impacts in Twilight's future, as well as Spike saying, "Can I walk instead?"

That's the main reason Rainbow keeps busting, Fluttershy keeps stuttering, and Pinkie Pie keeps being Pinkie Pie
I don't expect the writes to really change that until the cancellation of the series is imminent.
Still sometimes it's frustrating to keep seen their flows unchanged after they should have reflected on them during their individual episodes. Although it helps to see small changes in their overall attitudes.

Im confused about why you would be confused about her using all of the elements instead of 5, why is that confusing to you?
1571973 During the first and second episode of season one. It was allured that Celestia used the five elements of Harmony to send NM to the moon for 1000 years.
There have being a few contradictions ever since on what constitutes the elements of harmony/friendship, whether it's five for one and six for the other, either way it was clear that the element of magic was not used at the time.
This way the canon has contradicted itself like never before.
Because season four was a flashback and season one was just a quick mention; season four takes priority. I believe we will probably end up justifying this on something mundane like written history becomes altered with the course of time, or other gibbers like it.
