    A Fan Favorite

So, in between commissions, I like to do some personal pieces to give myself a chance to relax. Recently I got the idea to revisit a fan favorite character from my (arguably) most popular story on this site.

    Honey Pot

Just as a refresher, here's what she looked like back in the day.

    Unfortunate News

Hey guys, I know it's been a VERY long time since you've heard from me on here. It's been a year and a half since my last blog post, and it's mainly because I've been prioritizing other parts of my life.

Getting Back Into Gear (MOA:AP Readers)

I know, I know, it's been forever, both with Hate Thy Neighbor AND MOA: Alternate Perspectives. I haven't been writing much lately, but I've been presented with an opportunity to change that. I'll be making separate journals tagging both HTN and MOA:AP since this journal will discuss my plans for both, so for the folks that'll be getting this in their feed twice, I apologize in advance.

MLP Season 4 Blogs: Part I - My Brony Origins · 12:02am Nov 19th, 2013

As I said in a blog that I posted two weeks ago, I’ve decided that, starting today, I’m gonna write an MLP-related blog every day here and on deviantART, with Saturday’s blog being my review of/reaction to the season 4 premiere.

Today, I’m gonna talk about how I got into the show in the first place.

I don’t exactly remember when I had first heard about the whole Brony craze. I think it was around late 2011/early 2012. When I first heard about it and found out that the majority of the fans were male, I was a little weirded out. Then again, I was a fan of The Powerpuff Girls and Totally Spies, so I couldn’t say shit.

Then, a few months later, I was chatting with a close friend of mine from school (known as raidenpony78 here on FIMFiction), and he asked me if I had heard about the show. When I said yes, I was sure that he’d go on a rant about how much he was turned off by it because was the type of guy that was into ninjas and ultra-macho shows. Imagine my surprise when I found out that he was a fan. That was when I started to think that there was more to this show than just a bunch of candy-colored horses.

Still, though, I wasn’t interested in it enough to actually watch an episode.

In the weeks that followed, I found out that the creator of the show was Lauren Faust, and I thought “I swear I heard that name before,” but I didn’t bother to look her up. Then I saw a rerun of Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and I saw her name pop up. This is when my… intrigue in the show increased, and I started doing some research into her work, and was surprised at when I saw that she’s done work on Fosters AND The Powerpuff Girls, which was another show that broke gender barriers back in the late 90s.

So, in June of 2012, two months after the Season 2 finale, I sat myself down on a Saturday morning and caught three episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on The Hub. The three episodes that I watched were Winter Wrap Up, Hearts and Hooves Day, and Baby Cakes. After watching these episodes, I saw some true value in the show, and I considered it to be top-tier among children’s animation, and it was a standout in the cesspool that is today’s kid’s shows. So I bet you’re thinking that this was the part where my love for the show caught fire, huh?

Well… no.

You see, the thing was that while I liked the episodes, I didn’t LOVE them, and since there were fifty-two episodes out, I didn’t feel like scouring the web for each episode.

Then, over the summer, my dad told me that he got Netflix for the family to use, and I immediately started watching random animes and 90s cartoons. A week later, MLP popped up in my recommendations, and they had recently added Season 2, so I thought, “Why the hell not?”

I was hooked by the third episode.

I quickly became a fan of the show, and to this day, I still hold the same opinion of the aforementioned episodes that I do now.

Weeeeeeeeell, except Hearts and Hooves Day. Even though I don’t care for the CMC, I thought that it was a great episode.

Tomorrow, I’ll discuss my favorite and least favorite MLP characters.

We have so much in common! Except I was there maybe before season two, long enough in to show reruns on Monday mornings. I was hooked with the first episode, but from a showman's point of view, the right amount of social commentary and that every word from Pinkie's mouth was satirical. At TC there was another guy, about my age that came to school with a sketch of Twilight, and I was like hey that's Twilight Everybody else laughed at me and I swear one said and I quote. "What do you watch power puff girls too?"

To which I responded "Yeah." And they shut up.

I'm sorry but I might not be able to read your later blogs, for fear of spoilers, no cable but I might comment after I see it on the youtubes. Sorry if I'm blabbering, it's just my thirty plus followers never really respond to my blogs, so I feel kinda like talking a lot every time I see one. that I feel needs a comment. :twilightblush:

Saturday's blog is the only blog where you'll need to worry about spoilers. Tuesday-Friday's blogs will be stuff like my favorite/least favorite episodes, and various topics of that nature.

1519468 I figured as much I've seen every other episode three times over, except for Game's Ponies Play. I could never get into it, as in "Never seen the ending" and Believe it's time slot could have been better used as a first part to Magical Mystery Cure. Cementing the transformation as an arc rather than an episode.

Can't wait this is going to be good.
