Striking a chord (alternatively titled YAY) · 3:05pm Nov 10th, 2013

When I logged into FimFiction this morning, I expected the usual sort of response to either of my stories: maybe one or two half-hearted views by some randomly curious soul. What I did NOT expect was for this magic to have occurred (In case you can't see it, my story These Flowers Never Bloom was shared on Make Them Suffer's official Facebook page, by Make Them Suffer themselves—the band whose album concept my story is based upon).

There's no other was to describe this feeling: YAY!
I was in need of a pick-me-up after my latest rejection letter, and boy, did this come in spades! As a result, my story has gained an immediately huge amount of exposure. My official view counter puts the total new views at almost 200 since this time 12 hours ago (almost doubling what it had before). My total story views jumped to over 500 just before.

Short of being featured on Equestria Daily, this is, quite possibly, the best form of exposure I could have obtained for this story. I feel like the actual purpose of writing the story in the first place has been achieved. Official recognition by the band who inspired the story in the first place—inspired me to write—has given me a satisfyingly warm feeling within. They love it, and something like 300 of their other fans like it too. Well, except for this one guy, but I already responded to him in an appropriately loving-and-tolerating manner. ;)

I'd just like to say a massive thanks to Sean, Chris, Timmy, Louisa, Craig and Nick for being a part of one of Australia's greatest metal bands. Thanks for the spotlight. I hope that more people discover your music from this (this was actually one of my intentions from the beginning). Thanks to those fans of MTS who clicked on my story out of idle curiosity, and a larger thanks to those who actually sat and read through the whole thing. I''d say more, but I'd just be repeating myself at this point.
