new name for my story. what do you guys think? · 6:19pm Oct 21st, 2013
So my brother suggested a new name for my story. He suggested "The Cthulu Maneuver", giving it an air of seriousness that I probably want in this story. When I pointed out that it didn't involve Cthulu at all, he waved that off saying that it could be what the Alliance calls the espionage operation against the Dridune based on human culture surrounding things involving tentacles. what I want to know is what do you guys think about the new title?
plus this will probably be the last time I change the title, so I want something good. Anything you have to say about the subject (such as a better name) would be greatly appreciated.
I'm not sure how I feel about the word "maneuver." I feel like another word might work better, but it depend on just how things play out and what exactly their plan is. "Operation," "Action," "Gambit," "Campaign," "Offensive", or "Crusade" might all be options. Actually, "The Cthulhu Crusade" could have an interesting double meaning.
But as long as you do call the operation "The Cthulhu Whatever" in the story, I don't see a problem with the name. I think it would definitely be an improvement over the other names you've used.
1440784 I actually posted this i a couple of places, and someone suggested replacing Cthulu with Kraken.
so maybe "The Kraken Crusade"? or Operation: Kraken? still working on it, but I'm waiting for more feedback before I decide.

Personally, I think I prefer Cthulhu over Kraken. Cthulhu already has some space-y associations, and it's not incredibly difficult to think up a few parallels between Cthulhu and the Dridune.
On the other tentacle, "Kraken Crusade" has some nice alliteration.
And you don't want to confuse anyone into thinking that this is a Lovecraftian cosmic horror story.
Either one should work though.
Or you could name it after Davy Jones
