Hey guys! I just wanted to thank you all for the positive reception on the latest chapter of Among Gods! I'm currently working on some classwork, so the next chapter could take a while. I'll keep you posted on how it's going!
For today, I figured I'd talk about my original draft of Among Gods as well as my musings regarding its submission process.
When I first started writing Among Gods, the Prologue chapter was actually quite different. The first half with Parasite and Captain Atom and Green Arrow in the S.T.A.R. Labs facility was always there, but the second half with Sunset Shimmer was completely different than the final product. My original idea was just having characters from MLP as humans with new backstories and origins to make them better fit the DC Universe. When I put this version up for submission, it was actually denied! The reason was that it had nothing to do with MLP! After talking with the admin in charge of approving my fic, I managed to find the problem and reworked the Prologue to better fit Fimfiction's guidelines, resulting in the Prologue you are all familiar with.
I shared this with some friends on Skype who were helping me develop the fic. They were all very sour about the whole fact that it got denied. But I was quick to tell them that I was counting on the fic to get denied anyway! If it wasn't for the admin, I probably wouldn't have spotted where I went wrong! This resulted in making a better story! I'm actually happier with this version than my original draft.
So that's basically how Among Gods got to where it is today! I hope you all keep reading and commenting! Your feedback means a lot to me! I'll let you all know when the next chapter is in the pipeline!
