    Merry Christmas, all!

My track record with Christmas releases is no longer perfect, but I do try! Only one 5k chapter of Sharing the Nation this year, though I'm hoping to have 5k more out before the new year. To make up for it, though, I've also brought out the Harry Potter crossover that's been languishing in

    Nothing this year, sorry

Man, this has been… a year. Shortly after my last blog post, I had some (non-covid) medical issues that somewhat took over my life for a while, and while that's all in the past now, I'm only back where I was beforehand—completely unproductive. I was determined to get back into things at NaNoWriMo, but work steamrolled those plans and I just haven't been able to find the words to write something

More burned out than I thought

Jeeze, it's been four months since I decided not to force myself to generate updates for the sake of Patreon and gave myself the freedom to write whatever I wanted… but I haven't really written anything. I've done a thousand words or so here and there to play around with other fandoms, but nothing of significance.

    Shocking, I know.

Tis the season for status updates. Not as much the other kind of updates as I would like, though

It wouldn't be Christmas if I hadn't been completely incommunicado for at least a month or two beforehand, right?

Unfortunately, I don't have chapters of Sharing the Nation to post for Christmas this year. I do have some Equal Opportunity Ascension chapters that only Patreon has seen, and I'll post those, I guess, but it's clear this… isn't working.

    Christmas Updates!

    Merry Christmas!

As I've done every year since I started writing, I have updates here for you on Christmas day.

( It might look like there's a missing one, but the chapter for Sharing the Night that year was taken down and reposted)

Sharing the Night Chapter 8 Author's Notes · 10:38pm Sep 26th, 2013

Chapter 8 is out! If you haven't read it yet, go do so!

Traditionally, I've put my author's notes in a comment, but they get lost now that people have the option of sorting comments newest first, so I figured a blog post would do. Some would tell me to use the author's notes box, but I'm not really fond of them being quite THAT prominent.

I know Chapter 8 has been a long time in coming, and I'm sorry for keeping everyone waiting, but losing your job has that effect (karma from having Twilight get fired? Hmm, must look into this.)

I actually don't have a whole lot to say about this chapter. It took a couple of false starts, but I think it turned out pretty well! I even made good on my promise of dragon sex feelings-talking, I think.

And as usual, thanks to q97randomguy and spacecowboy for proofreading. I'll learn proper comma usage one day!

Aw yiss.

...How would that work..? Unless..oh god, is THAT what earthquakes are?!

Forget earthquakes. Volcanoes. Think about it. :twilightoops:

Actually, yes.

You know when you have those really big farts in your sleep, like huge, because they build up but you're not conscious so you don't hold them back?

Tornadoes, man. Dragons literally breaking wind.

There's also the Author's Note section at the end of your chapter :twilightsheepish:

That's what I meant by the "author's notes" box. I don't like putting mine there, because my authors notes are inevitably filled with apologies for taking so long and such, which becomes completely irrelevant after the fact :unsuresweetie:

 I don't mind waiting. Thanks for writing! :twilightsheepish:

Can this story just go on forever?

1378628
That means we'd be waiting forever for the next chapter...

Oh wait!:trollestia:

Equestria is made of dragons. That will certainly be my personal headcanon from now on. It's just too ridiculously brilliant.

I was thinking more like an update like this a week for the rest of my (hopefully long) life. :twilightsheepish:

Seriously, this story, Asylum, and the Hard Reset series are the best things on the site. I only hope that my writing can be as good someday (and that I can become more consistent update-wise:fluttercry:).

I once had a dream about a world made of dragons. It was just past the portal on the far side of the world made of sapient swampmud, which resided past the portal in the greatest jail underneath the world of perpetual warfare.

Seventy layers of portals later, there was the world made of zombies, right under the world of recursive mining operations. My dreams don't mess around.

...more to the point, it's Order, isn't it? The primal terror that underlies all of Equestria and wants to eat Twilight Sparkle? It's a cosmic principle of existence enforcing the continuance of reality in Equestria. It's angry because something which has been orderly and static for eons (stars) has become something that shifts and changes constantly (star currents). It doesn't care about harmony. It only cares about getting as near to a deterministic existence as possible. It finds Twilight Sparkle to be offensively non-deterministic. It finds the Alicorn of the Stars to be offensive nonsense.

Celestia, being extremely stable in personality and operating according to ancient routines, has either never noticed it or already lost a battle with it. Luna has had it fray at her before, but she never came into direct conflict. Scientists and scholars will tend to channel it. Perhaps Discord is unstable and levitation-y because he can't ever be reconciled to it. If my guess is right, Twilight Sparkle should visit Discord. He'd be the one who would understand.

(TvTropes taught me to be shameless and cheerful about presenting odd guesses.)
