Holy crap, I never expected my latest fic to catch on like it did. It's only been up for a day! Thanks for the favs, guys! I'll have Chapter 1 up and running soon! Remember to keep giving me your feedback on what you want out of this fic!
In any case, I just wanted to take the time to say this really means a lot to me. I've been putting a lot of effort into my work. While things are kind of hectic right now, I can assure you that things will kick into high gear once I'm done with my latest exams next week.
Speaking of Among Gods, I figured I'd take some time to talk about where the initial conception of the idea came from. As some of you may remember, I put up a pair of teasers for a fic called "No Mare's Land," a Batman: Arkham City crossover. As these were my first ever forays into pony fan fiction, I decided to write some standalone chapters to test the waters of not only MLP fan fiction but also the idea of the crossover as well. While the idea got a lot of traction and I was very excited about it, I kind of forgot a critical factor about this fic...
Just how was I supposed to make this thing work?
As it turned out, none of my ideas were working! I tried making it a miniseries with six or so chapters each, I tried making it a single narrative, but nothing-- and I mean nothing-- satisfied me. It should also be of note that I was going through a bit of a rough patch in my life at the time, so it basically put me out of commission for a while (hence my sudden hiatus).
But among my sea of scribbled notes and countless test chapters was this idea for a potential sequel to No Mare's Land. It was basically the same principal as Among Gods. Twilight and her friends end up in the DC Universe and have to team up with various heroes while they find a way back home. However, it had a Brave and the Bold kind of twist to it where a single Issue (I was still playing around with the miniseries idea at this time) focused on a pony from the Mane 6 and a hero from the DCU. Obviously, things never panned out that way.
Since my return to writing, I went back to that idea and refined it to the latest fic you see now. Now, it should be noted that THIS WILL NOT BE A MINISERIES LIKE NO MARE'S LAND WAS GOING TO BE! It's going to be a single, standalone story with multiple chapters! I won't necessarily spoil where it's going yet, but I think you'll be surprised!
