    So.

I am only partially a lazy butt.

I'm almost finished with my last semester in college, and it's been a pain in the neck let me tell you. But lately all my writing energy has been funneled into large essays for final projects and such that have nothing whatsoever to do with ponies.

    Revisions!

There has been an increasing amount of personal happenings going on in my life recently and it's been making updating in general a daunting task. I am doing my best to get back on the horse so to speak, but I'm also working on a writing project for which I am getting paid so that takes a bit of precedence also. In the meantime I have made a few revisions in my downtime.

    A Cry for Help

I know this is slightly ridiculous, not to mention that it's 3am and I should be in bed and not writing blog posts, but I'm too tired to make the distinction between good ideas and bad as of this moment in time.

More Revisions (The Want Me Need Me Spell)

I forgot to mention that I revised a portion of "The Want Me Need Me Spell" to try and make the idea that Pinkie was never affected by the spell a little clearer.
I would love to hear what you all think:

Pinkie rolled her eyes with a giggle, “You know what game, silly! You’re the one that invited me to play!”

So Tell Me... · 5:34am Apr 7th, 2012

What do you do when faced with writer's block or just stuck on where to go next in your plot?

When I get stuck I tend to doodle scenes that I've already written which gets the ideas churning again.

I'm just interested to hear about your methods.

Listen to music, play some Blazblue or watch some movies for me.

I have some friends, usually other writers, join me in an open Google Document. I have a MUCH easier time writing with an audience, for a variety of reasons.

Force through it. Not elegant, and it's sometimes shit, but then I get the energy to revise it.

Music REALLY helps. A variety of stuff, not just what you like. And really listen to the lyrics. It's a good way to get inspiration. After all, there's a reason so many stories have links to related songs: they've gotten inspiration from them.

Other than that, as weird as it sounds, I read other stories. There are single lines in other stories that make me think of intricate ideas in my own story. Like, I'll see a throwaway line in a book or fic and think, "Oh wow, that's a genius line, and it really reminds me of where I want this story to go. And then I write down that line, and see if I can take that perfection and go off of it to continue the story. Then I find some good sentence in what I wrote off of the line, and I see if any of them inspire me, or I just copypasta what I wrote into the story and then try to connect the two points. Then I delete the foreign line.

It's complicated, but it works. I really should keep the collections of lines and where I got them. Keep in mind, though, I've only written one fic, so it's hardly a well-tested method.

I cry, remember that I can't actually write and banish the story to the Recycle Bin.

I re-read what I've done so far, watch some other cartoons, listen to music, watch my little pony (I always do that, writer's block or not)

61377 That's how I did my first story - a line from another story inspired me. For writers block, I suggest writing about something completely unrelated to your story. You know, write something without ponies (the horror) or some pony topic unrelated. Heck, you could even upload whatever you wrote to get rid of writer's block here, to appease us while you write the real story.

I usually switch over to writing something else for a while--I always have multiple stories in the process of being written at any given time, and I pick them up and put them down as inspiration strikes. But if nothing at all is gelling, then I usually go to watch some episodes or, like Bashfluff, listen to some music. If none of THAT works, I just step away entirely for a while until I get the urge to write again.
