As for me . . . well, I'm still alive, for one.
Let me start off by apologizing profusely for remaining completely silent for the past three months. I'm sorry.
. . .
Now that that's out of the way, let me 'splain why I was gone.
Near the beginning of the summer, I went (as previously stated) to Everfree Northwest in Seattle. That ate up a good chunk of my time. It was a fantastically good time, and I met a whole bunch of celebrities (writers, V.A.s, musicians). I also spent far too much money, but that's to be expected of a major convention, to drain my wallet under my very nose, leaving me none the wiser. And I was in about three seconds of one of ACRacebest's Everfree videos.
After that excursion, I had a day during which to readjust to normal, non-vacation life. It was not to last, however, because I then left on a family trip to Island Park, Idaho for a week. During my stay, I tossed around a plethora of ponyfic-related ideas--each as terrible and likely-to-fail as the last--before latching onto one that I thought would make a decent story. I had around three days to flesh out the concept, transitioning it from a whisper of an idea to a story with a bit of a backbone.
Then, after returning home, I was diagnosed with walking pneumonia. Numerous doctor's visits ensued. Further time wasted. Very little motivation to write when all I wanted to do was sleep.
And school's starting. That's happening.
But the real reason that you haven't heard from me in this long is because I had inadvertently worked myself into a deep funk that prohibited me from writing. A funk that would berate me to the point of quitting if I even thought about sitting down to write. Millions of half-formed ideas (one of which being a sequel to Melodious Desideratum) and one fleshed out idea bouncing around in my head, but no idea how to put my thoughts into words--my brain-turned-worst-enemy wasn't going to let me off that easily.
So, I resorted to non-pony fic. Miscellaneous other bits and bobs that I could write about with no thought of an audience to impress. I think it worked, because I now am able to write in coherent sentences, and involving ponies, no less.
As of right now, I have two ideas for stories. One of which will likely be a one-shot, and has not evolved past the concept phase. The other is a relatively short multi-chapter involving romance and apples. Eeyup.
And just to tie you over until I release something substantial, the title of said multi-chapter will be:
The Kiss in His Eyes
See you on the other side!
Romance and apples, eh? Sounds good.
Welcome back, I've had walking pneumonia twice, it sucks.
I once -- and once was enough -- employed the pseudonym "Joaquin Pneumonia." Then again, I am notoriously short on shame.
I missed you...I'm glad you're healthy and out of your funk. Take as much time as you need to do what you do best.

I missed you too, ya son of a gun.
