Is it just me or does it seem like the stories that are not marked with a "Sex" and "romance" blip get significantly less likes and views? One story I did a month or two ago, Battlestar Luna, did not have a romance or sex blip and was actually voted down quite a bit. Was it the writing? Was it the idea? Maybe it was this community's obsession with pony sex? We seem to be more into reading and seeing ponies fuck then simply enjoying the characters and stories we can create without the use of "clop" material or romance. I, myself, have not helped the problem in any way. I'm a producer of romance materials, but thats because I enjoy writing that. I also enjoy writing: sci-fi, comedy, adventures, and really nearly anything. However none of that has ever caught on with the community and reached the bar of popularity made by my romantic stories. I'm always left questioning my writing, scratching my head and saying "Maybe I didn't execute this idea quite right". If my suscpisons are true I am truly disappointed in all Bronies. I enjoy My Little Pony Friendship is Magic because its simply a good show. I write fanfiction of the romantic nature because I enjoy doing so and use it to hone my skills as a writer. I did not come here or to any other Brony site to see ponies fuck, read of them fucking, or hear of them fucking.

i dont like cheesy romance and/or clop/sex. i do just fine with my blatant crossovers.
You just pointed out what I believe is the saddest part of this site. It seems that all you have to do to make the feature box/ get a lot of likes today is write a mature clopfic involving a popular pony. (Almost any clop with Luna will get featured, even if it's terrible.) I personally prefer non clop, and will only read clop if it's a side part of a real good story. In fact, if I didn't have a few favored mature fics I would just turn the view mature filter off.
Though there are a lot of good stories out there that are non clop. New semi-original ideas, extremely well written HIE/ crossovers, and ship fics seem to do well on this site.
1294488 I have written some romantic stories with the 'clop' as a side note. That is fine I can agree with those stories. However, when a horribly written, clop ONLY fic gets more views and likes than a masterpiece with the clop as a side note...well I get pissed. I've gotten so annoyed when one of my favorite fics gets pushed off the featured list because some guy published what could qualify as written rape and the community goes "OH MAH GAWD IT'S PERFECT!"

Agreed. I was so pissed when a porno turned into words involving Luna was on top of the feature box for almost two weeks... That doesn't belong on this site, and it certainly doesn't deserve a top three spot on the feature box.
It also annoys me when stories with the sex tag take up at least half of the feature box. So many good stories are beat out by mindless clop it's really sad. I'm going to stop complaining now though, because I could go on for hours.
Finally, I do agree that your romance stories with clop on the side are pretty good. I know I have a few of them favorited. They are among the few mature stories that keep me from unchecking the display mature stories box.
I am rather annoyed with that as well whenever i am looking for a new story and search by rating clops are always near the top.
Well, I've noticed that stories that have tragic elements are rising in popularity.

heh I like to read almost anything on here ,clop or otherwise, but there is some stuff I wont read, I guess it doesn't help that I don't rate the stuff I read and just put it in my favorites instead
