I'm still around!
So I guess what I want to get across is that I haven't written that much before, so everything is a bit of an experiment. I wrote a reasonable third chapter, but I don't think it's very compelling. Therefore: Cue the rewrite! Sorry to do this again, but I think it will be better in the long run. I'm aiming to make a shorter, snappier version of what I had, one that plays more to my (admittedly limited) strengths as a writer. After all, It's pretty pointless to write thousands of words (which takes me ages!) when a few well chosen words would have performed just as well. I felt like my story was taking a turn towards the novelistic, long-form drawn out epic that would be cool to read, but take way too long to write.
I mean, I started writing this fic with one scene in mind, and that scene was planned to be in chapter 4 or 5, but with how long things were stretching out, that scene would have taken place much later. So I'm going to return a little bit towards the style of the first chapter and move things along at a pace that will see this story finished before we all die of old age!
