    Damn peer pressure

Almost all reviews/comments for my Mass Effect/40k story have one thing in common. They wanted the Inquisitor to live.

Now, that was the original plan, but as I plotted out the story, I came across two problems. One; too many characters, and two; Character redundancy. The first problem is easy enough to explain. Mass Effect already has a ton of characters, and I'm just adding more.

    State of the Author.

Hello everybody. Got a few things to say here, so bear with me. If that sounds ominous, let me reassure everyone that I am not leaving Fimfiction anytime soon.

Mass Effect: Universal Outcasts has just been released.

It's a little late, but I managed to crank it out finally. As promised, simultaneously launched and Fanfiction.net and AO3. Links below the break.

Just saw the Detective Pikachu trailer...

And I can't tell what Jigglypuff would do if you fell asleep; scribble on or stab you.

Well shit. · 5:12pm Aug 3rd, 2013

Computer's borked. I think the power supply gave out.

It was inevitable, being a 10 year old eMachine. Bad news is that work on my stories has ground to a halt because of it.

Good news is that I still have somewhat access to the internet, even though it'll be irregular for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully I can get back on track soon enough.

Seriously!? Good thing I have a lot of other stories to read, even though the list is growing I still love reading H:OtWoA.

10 years old!??:twilightoops:

1259555

Yeah, I don't know how it lasted so long without something breaking

1259566
Well, at least if it IS the power supply, that's a pretty easy fix.

But I wouldn't put it past the thing if the hard drives gave up the ghost by now.

Good luck mate!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Been there, I know dem feelz. You had your files elsewhere, not just on your computer, right?

work on my stories has ground to a halt because of it.

:ajbemused:... uhhh what work? Not to be a complete ass but you... too my knowledge haven't posted anything in months, I follow you so any update on anyhting.... nevermind just glad to see your still alive and well sorry about your computer:raritycry:. Can't wait for the next update of Halo: On the Wings of Angels.:pinkiehappy:

1259568

That's the thing, I only THINK it's the power supply. It could be anything, and I haven't worked up the gumption to take a screwdriver to the thing to find out.

1259641

Yes, I plan to update it, as soon as I figure out what happens next.

1259874

Work's been slow, but steady on Hired Gun.

Emachines are still being made?!:rainbowderp:

well hope you find a new pc soon. or a new power supply atleast. been waiting a long time fore hired gun to update.

1260199

Dunno. It's 10 years old (or nearly so. It came with XP at least)

1259527 No, it was just the power supply.
That is, if you can even fix an eMachine...:facehoof:

1259568 Shhhhhh!! Don't jinx it! :twilightoops:

Not the only one using an eMachine, my friend.

That is one old emachine, man. I've got an oldie myself, not sure hwo old though. It's a Pentium 1 emachine 333cs, but the processor is a 333 megahertz Cyrix-brand processor. Shipped with Windows 98, back when it first came out. ...That byzantine old rig has give me more headaches than most other machines of it's day. Good Luck replacing your own, man.

1260447 I dunno. the old 333cs in my last post uses all standard equipment. :P

1260950 I know. I've taken to referring to that particular computer as 'The Old One'. Planning to try LinuxMint on it soon. Might give it the system name of 'Starswirl'. :pinkiecrazy:

1260950 Windows Millennium. Double-Eeewww!
Fortunately, I only had to use it for a few weeks...

If you don't mind a recommendation, laptops are getting close to desktops for power and versatility.
I'm using a Gateway NE56R10u, and it has everything I need - probably more.
Ran me about $340, tax included.
I'm just sayin ...

Motherfucka, Why did fimfiction not tell me you posted this. :twilightangry2: Well... Murphy's law i guess.

If it is indeed your power supply that crapped out, look around and I'm sure you can find a power supply for under $10.

I picked up a used power supply from a computer shop for $10. Guy even tested it right in front of me to confirm it worked. Went through several, gave me the one that had the best voltage regulation.

So, building a custom PC myself. Going the Hackintosh route with it. Screw Windows and it's malware jungle. I ain't about to pay Apple's premium for their hardware, but I'll definitely buy their OS.

Anyway, when done, I'll hace a 3.5 GHz quad core i7 with 16 GB RAM, 22 TB of storage, and support for 6 monitors (I'll only be needing 4) built into an antique Philco radio cabinet, complete with nixie tube clock in the front panel and neon indicator lights.

Gonna be pretty sweet when it's done! Just need to layout, etch, and solder my fan speed controller... I have a nice turbine style fan for cooling, originally intended as a blower for the air-fuel intake on a commercial boiler.Unfortunately, without the controller to slow it down, it has only one speed... tornado! :twilightblush:

1260950 We got 21 years out of a Magnum PC2 running some early version of MS DOS. It was only replaced when the hard drive died.

Hope you can get back up and running! I also hope that you can finish On the Wings of Angels. I really like that one.

*cough* remove the hard drive and plug it into another pc :moustache: I'M SORRY I'M A PC GUY!!
