I tried my best but it wasn't quite there... · 7:37am Jul 26th, 2013
Chapter 4 was fighting me tooth and nail all day today. I think going forward I need to start planning out my chapters more beyond the simply two sentence synopses I've been working off of. It was fine for chapter 1 and 2, since they were nice and simple, but 3-6 are much more complicated, so I seem to be spending more time sitting and pondering how to connect my loosely conceptualized ideas then I am actually writing.
Still, I added about four pages today, but I still have a few more scenes to get through, as well as tightening up everything once I finish the first pass, so it's probably still a few days out. I could have BS'd an ending, but I'd rather take the time to do it right.
On the positive side, I hit 8k words, which means this will probably end up over 10k just like Chapter 3.
I've found that most of the time people have trouble writing chapters because they are over thinking them. I suggest taking a small break filled with casually thinking about the chapter and chapters ahead. Instead of all at once. I think the story as a whole can only benefit from that.
I suggest you bring what you have to Bronycon and let the collected power of the nerd there channel through you into what will either be the greatest work of fiction ever made or something that not even the darkest reaches of 4chan could hope to conjure. Either way I get to fanboy over it.
