Pinkie Sense and Pacing Patterns · 3:55pm Jul 25th, 2013
Chapter six is out, so here's another blog post to celebrate.
"New Tricks and Old Friends" shows some examples of my interpretation of Pinkie Pie – or at least one of them. It also shows a possible explanation for her Pinkie Sense, and I know there are many, probably because they don't have to be all too reasonable.
In any case, I like the idea that Pinkie's powers could be quite... well, powerful, but that she doesn't want to use them for anything that isn't fun. And before you argue with the extensive use in "Feeling Pinkie Keen", I bet getting a Twitchy Tail out of nowhere is super fun.
Anyway, I don't know what people think about my pacing. After taking another look at FMP's My Little Pirates original, I can't deny that I'm going through the plot a lot faster. I've reached more or less the same point of the story with a third of the chapters and probably even less words.
It's always been like this, though. In my final exam (a five hour test) I wrote barely a quarter of the pages the average girl in my class would write, saying the same things. Even with my small handwriting that's a big difference, and judging by the grade I got on it (A-) I must not have missed a lot.
I just can't ramble about things. I can be completely nonsensical, which seems like rambling at times, but I can't actually ramble on about a single topic, I'll just drift off-topic and–
...What was I talking about?
In the end practically everything in my stories comes down to one of the following things:
1) Things that are important to the plot.
2) Interesting backstory, even if it isn't completely important to the plot.
3) Fun (including nonsense, puns and bad jokes)
3.5) Easter-eggs, occasionally, though those are usually filed under "Fun"
