Concerning bobby ray's progress on The Trotting Dead

Hey everyone, how are all of you?

I'd like to start by saying that the chapter is being worked on, but recently bobby has contacted me about very serious issues regarding his family that, as a result, has hindered his progress. Rest assured, he is still determined to finish the next chapter, but it will be a while longer considering the aforementioned problems.

For those interested in taking over my Trotting Dead fic, plus other things

Okay, here it goes... So, just yesterday I finally made myself sit down and work on my Trotting Dead story. It sucks to say that I didn't get very far at all. I was at a loss for ideas, my writing was slow and uninspired, and basically I simply wasn't making any real progress. I guess I've hit a wall, I don't know how to continue with the Trotting Dead, and I've lost almost all of my drive to

    The path ahead is foggy.

Sorry for the cryptic title, but it's kind of true. I just thought I'd let you guys know what's been holding me up recently. College classes for Spring quarter have started up, and English class... let me tell you, English class pulls no punches when it comes to handing out assignments, so that's kept me more than busy. On a more negative note, quite frankly, I've simply lost a lot of what drives

For those interested in taking over my Trotting Dead fic, plus other things · 9:15pm Jun 17th, 2013

Okay, here it goes... So, just yesterday I finally made myself sit down and work on my Trotting Dead story. It sucks to say that I didn't get very far at all. I was at a loss for ideas, my writing was slow and uninspired, and basically I simply wasn't making any real progress. I guess I've hit a wall, I don't know how to continue with the Trotting Dead, and I've lost almost all of my drive to write it or my other story, Equestria's Peril. I figured that once I was done with classes and summer rolled around that I would feel much more inclined to write, since I have more hours in the day to. Sadly though, this is not the case. I thought this rut was something I would eventually get over, and it might still be, but I don't feel right about making everyone wait on me hoping that I will just suddenly get the flare to write again.

Therefore, I am looking for someone to take over The Trotting Dead if they wish to. I'm saddened that I won't be able to write the story in my own vision from that point on, but I feel as though it would be better for everyone to let someone more capable than I to continue the story. If you're interested, than PM me, and I'll get back to you as soon as I see it. I don't want to be too picky on who I choose, but I do want someone who can update more often than I can (which shouldn't be difficult) and has adequate writing skills.

As for Equestria's Peril... well, it's actually really complicated. I don't feel much of a drive to write it, but at the same time, I really don't want to give up on it either. I know it may seem odd that I feel more determined to personally continue me less popular story, but the thing is that I'm not just writing it for me or anyone else, but for my good friend, Daniel, who has enjoyed it tremendously thus far. Plus, unlike The Trotting Dead, I doubt anyone will want to take over Equestria's Peril if I offered, besides, I wouldn't really want anyone to anyway, since that's more of a personal story. It obviously became much harder to give it attention with The Trotting Dead to focus on as well, so perhaps working on two really long fics at the same time wasn't a good idea to begin with. Hopefully with The Trotting Dead on someone else's shoulders, things can go back to normal with only one story to worry about...yeah, that would be nice.

I thank all of you for your support, and despite this discouraging turnout, I still have had so much fun writing TTD not just for me, but for anyone willing to read and enjoy my work. I'm truly sorry that I couldn't deliver all the way to the end, and I hope you guys can forgive me for that. I'm confident that someone out there has the capabilities to make it much greater than I ever could. Within the next few days, I'll try to get back into writing Equestria's Peril and seeing how that goes. Perhaps less pressure is just what I need.

Warm regards, and many thanks,
-KJ

Alrighty Then.

It's fine, man. I got some fanfics to read on my 'Read Later' list. But this story, The Trotting Dead, it's the best one you have.
And you're gonna let somebody continue writing your story, The Trotting Dead? I don't know if somebody has that game and has the adequate writing to continue writing. I don't know how to write a story, but it looks easy to me for writers. :applejackunsure:
You just play the game, listen the scriptic dialogue, copy it down to a sheet of paper or word document, and make a few changes, that's it.

I also forgive you for being late to continue your stories, just to reassure you:twilightsmile:. Also, you're not the only one to get left behind to finish your fanfics.

1151977 Well, nothing is set in stone. If it turns out that no one will take it over, then I'll try my best to power through some updates.

And yeah, it's easy enough to go along right next to the game while switching the dialogue and situations around every now and then, I just feel compelled to go a bit beyond that and come up with some originality, and that's honestly pretty intimidating.

I just have to apply myself I suppose. Thanks for your encouragement, userground.
That really helps a lot.

You're welcome

So you are writing Equestria's Peril for your friend, Daniel?
Hah! That's my name too! :pinkiehappy:
When I read this blog, I thought you were talking about me, but I realized it's just someone else you know other than me. :twilightsheepish:

I only just discovered this post a short time ago, and it makes me :fluttershysad: that you seem to have lost your spark for Trotting Dead. It really did seem like it had potential, so I hope it isn't abandoned outright.

Have you found anyone so far who's potentially interested in getting on the saddle, or alternatively, has 400 Days given you new inspiration? Wishful thinking, maybe, but dammit, I want to see this story continue (though I'm probably not the one to do it if that's what you're thinking of suggesting. My own dedication to writing is...questionable, at best).

Whoever continues writing TTD, I hope they can really make it shine. If it happens to be you, and you're at a loss on how to tweek events, here's a good Avengers/Lord of the Rings crossover that shows how you can stick to the broad strokes of a given story while still making increasingly radical changes. Forgive me if you're not familiar with either franchise. :twilightsheepish:

1197864 Well, I did receive an offer back at the beginning of the year when I was actually unable to work on it due to having no computer. I wasn't feeling so dragged down at the time, so I declined. However, it doesn't seem like there's going to be any new offers, so I will have to simply make myself work on it whenever I can. I've actually been able to get in some good writing lately, when usually I wouldn't be happy with what I had so far. Right now, the newest chapter is 1900 words exactly. I know that for the amount of time that it's been since an update that that's not very much, but I'm at least starting to get back into it.

I guess the thing that's blocking me the most is the raw pressure of wanting to make this story great, but not being able to. I also find it difficult to incorporate original scenarios that will keep readers interested, but then again, I do have those links as well as a lot of your great ideas to go off of (Thanks again for that by the way) and we can always discuss them more if you like. I guess it will just be the challenge of executing them.

Rest assured, I'm definitely not going to give up just yet, I'll just be a bit slower for now.
And thank you for your kind words and encouragement, that truly does help. :twilightblush:

Glad to hear you're making some headway after all. If it helps, I notice that sometimes, writing feels easier if you find someone else to split the work with, so if the person who offered is still interested, perhaps ask him or her to step on board as a co-writer (be sure to discuss who will write what, naturally. Bouncing ideas off each other might also help you with original directions).

Speaking of which, after playing 400 Days, I feel like suggesting that if it helps break you out of your funk, you can try writing a "filler" chapter where one of the ponies (either the ones who actually went down to Georgia or somepony testing Twilight's machine to go on a rescue mission) encounter Wyatt and Eddie...who happen to be stoned out of their minds at the time and assume she's/they're just another hallucination. :rainbowlaugh:

What kind of hilarity ensues is up to you. Even if I had more specific suggestions, I wouldn't name them here, for obvious reasons.
