Random Romance, a Shipfic Contest

I recently learned about the newly-founded Random Romance group, which plans to hold a monthly shipfic contest with a random pairing. Here, I'll let the group's founder explain:

It works like this: every month, I put a bunch of little pieces of paper with names on them into two hats-one for in-show ponies, (mane 6, princesses etc) and one for background characters-then I pull a name out of each hat and voila! Shipping prompt. No, seriously, that's how it works. It's called "Random" for a reason.

This month's random pairing is Luna/Octavia, which is pretty darn shippable, so there should be a good number of entries.

Anyway, it's a fun idea and should generate some cool stories, so go and check it out if you're the shippy sort.

DUDE!

That's like... a shipping group/competition that actually makes sense and doesn't have me running away screaming! Mostly because there can never be a main 6/main 6 pairing under the current system. I've barely read a handful of stories of that ilk that haven't made me want to smack the author with a kipper.

Luna/Octavia is actually rather... inspiring. Hmm.

I'm the co-founder, and that's why we did it. M6 x M6 is just so... over done. With the way our prompts are decided there will always be one popular character, in the prompt, but there will also be one lesser known character. Forces writer's to work outside the established fanon.
