First off, I am amazed that 'A Voice Among the Strangers' is reaching 5000k 5k views. Edit: I really shouldn't type anything on two hours sleep.
Thank you all that have poked it with a stick, and thank you also to those that had taken the time to read my rambling after the poke test!
The next chapter will be released next week, hopefully early around the normal update day-ish I was keeping roughly to. It leads into a... well I wont spoil it, but I will reveal the next chapter name when I upload chapter 7.
Anyhow, that's not what this blog post is about, this is about making up for the lack of update this week. Thusly I have added two pictures onto my page. One of Jessica in her new outfit with much desired shoes, and the other of a certain pegasus who shall not be named incase of spoilers (Pssst it's Rose!) Those who have read past chapter two will be aware of who it is!
I got them commissioned to say sorry to everyone for not updating this week, I hope the artwork makes up for it!
The pictures are wonderful! It's nice to have some visuals to go along with the story.

Daww, Ebony is adorable. Also, seeing the two of them side by side like that makes me wonder if Ebony intentionally made her disguise look a bit like Jessica.

1102658 It is adorable, and you can always add it in retroactively. I seriously doubt Ebony had seen or used that disguise before (recognition is a big risk, and ponies are not terribly suspicious of strangers so it makes sense to change disguises regularly), so there is no reason Ebony could not have used Jessica as a template. Besides, canonizing that lets you have a "Jessica pony" without any issues.

o.O I always thought the color choice was intentional. I figured Ebony took those colors so that she wouldn't draw attention by being mistaken as someone else and since Jessica and her were friends it was a smart color choice since she needed an original disguise.

Oooh, AkuOreo did definitively catch Jess's and Ebony's cuteness. *d'aaww*
I recognized the artist immediately once I saw Jess's eyes, even if they aren't as distinctive as his usual drawings. Interesting choice for the artist.
Also, you reveal Jess's cutie mark! It is ... some kind of mixture of the ying yang symbol and the C key? Oh man, I still don't know what it is supposed to mean.
Well, I hope the next chapter reveals it.
There are three details I noticed about the images. The first one is that Jess has a highlight in her hair. I can't remember having read about this, but regardless if I missed it or forgotten about this, it really suits her.
The second one is that the skirt shows the mark on Jess's right hip. Yet you stated in chapter 2 that the pattern was positioned on her left hip. A simple solution would be to edit the text to state that both hips show this pattern. This would make sense as ponies have their cutie marks on both flanks. Considering Rarity tries to provide Jess with a cutie mark, the reason for this asymmetry always eluded me.
The third one are Ebony's ears - they seem so humanish round, lacking the tip I expect from pony ears. Maybe AkuOreo did indeed draw subconsiously a pony Jess.

The hip symbol, etc are just minor differences, I imagine the image may have gotten flipped when given to me. Although I am lazy and could flip it back... but laaaazy. Also glad you like the art! Nice you can pick up the artist, although the one who draws is a she. ^-^
As for the symbol itself, well you're on the right path. It's actually two symbols stylised into one by Rarity, one of the shapes we would recognise on earth...
Oh! And the highlight? It's very briefly mentioned I believe when she looks in a mirror, I think either in the hospital or in the hotel bathroom. Well it should be...

I actually was just looking at AkuOreo's page when I saw them in her recent deviations and I went "OMG I TOTALLY KNOW THOSE CHARACTERS! I LOVE THAT STORY!" This drew a strange look from my younger brother, who was in the room and came over to look. He, of course, was the one who recommended the story to me originally, so said (in a quieter voice) "Hey, isn't that...?" It's funny, cuz I could have sworn I went to go follow you 3 times already, but I realized I didn't get the blog post. Oh well, crisis solved.
