A Survey on Stardust · 12:33am May 12th, 2013

Evening folks!

I'd like to thank everyone who's read and commented on Stardust so far. I also greatly appreciate all the feedback that everyone provides! It's on that note that I post a small survey for folks since I'll require your answers to make this decision.

When I initially made my research for this fanfic, I played through XCOM and read the wiki on the various characters. No first name was listed for Bradford, Vahlen or Shen, so I defaulted to the first names of their voice actors. The exception to this rule was Shen, since his voice actor has a name with a crazy french spelling that annoyed me so I flipped that to Charles.

One of my studius commenters pointed out the Wiki now lists Shen's first name as Raymond but doesn't have any first names for the other characters. On the one hand the Wiki now documents Shen's name as Raymond, but on the other hand I can't find any other reference to Shen's first name other than the wiki.

So I ask my loyal readers: Should I activate cosmic retcon powers and flip Charles to Raymond (or Ray for short), or should I just stay the course and leave it as Charles?

I'll tabulate the results by this time tomorrow and make any changes necessary at that time as well as submit my next entry. Let me know what your opinions are!

Keep it Charles please it would confuse me:derpytongue2:

I would Stick with Charles.

Doesn't matter to me, I'd like the story the same either way.

Doesn't meter is good as is soo let it be Charles:derpytongue2:

"Raymond Charles Shen"

BAM.

I like the idea of Charles as a middle name that Shen prefers to his first name. It can also lead to some comedy if characters find out that Charles isn't his first name.

Charles is fine. Come on. :raritywink:

Or, like 1077868 suggested, it's his middle name.

Honestly? Consistency trumps absolute adherence to canon. I daresay nobody reading this has a problem with 'Charles'. I know I don't.
