Gah! I really need to kick myself into gear! I've got like...nine other big stories that I need to get started on and I'm still stuck on Learning to Fly! (Though in my defense, my computer was all like...blah until recently). This is definitely a flail moment, don't you all think so?
Anyways, enough of my stalling and goofing off (cursed internet and your distracting distractions...I'm looking at YOU various tumblrs I found yesterday that are nifty).
....I really need to fill out this big empty spot don't I? Umm....Oh! I got it!
I wanna know something about you, the readers. What exactly was your first exposure to the MLP fandom?
For me, it was this song. I had seen the first couple of episodes by this point and all that jazz, but a buddy of mine was all like, "Why not explore some of the fandom?" So, I went to youtube and watched the next episode of ponies and from there, clicked on the first fan thing that seemed interesting. Let's just say...I was NOT ready for the feels from that song. I will admit, when I first heard that song with headphones in and at full blast...I cried. Not over the top bawled, but just....cried quietly. Even to this day, I tear up a little whenever I hear it.
It was that song that made me realize that I wanted to be a part of this community and that there's so much beauty within the show that can only be interpreted by us, the fans. Whether it be in the form of art, music, or the written word, it makes me...content and happy to be a part of all of it. What about for you?
Well, my best friend marathoned all of season one and two in a couple days and mentioned it to me, and I teased him a little, but he sent me the first few episodes. I mentioned it to my girlfriend at the time (now ex) and she basically demanded that I delete them, and not talk to any of my friend who happen to be bronies (which turns out, I was the second to last one in my group).
So, I told her to shove it and watched em anyway. Halfway through the first episode I was hooked, and started watching the show. Awhile after that, I started going to EQD, a couple months after that, started reading fanfiction. I did not start writing, however, until a contest sponsored by one of my favorite writers (TAW) came up in a blog post. So I wrote my first fic, (currently being rewritten) In Search of Knowledge. And just never stopped.
I won second, by the way. My editor was sitting next to me when I got the notification, and we sort of flipped shit. It was glorious
First contact with the fandom was even before I became a Brony with this
The first episode I watched was "Too Many Pinkie Pies" It suddenly appeared when I was watching an episode of Nostalgia Critic and I loved every minute, even when I still didn't know who was who
Soon, I started reading Fan Fics
