So...how're ya doing? Did you do something to your hair? Gotta say, I think it looks good. Me? Oh, you know. Not too bad, can't complain. So...it's uh....been awhile. Like...a few years awhile. Too long to be honest, much too long. I've missed out on so many good stories and updates to stories I've already started. (Seriously, I had like...80 notifications for stories that had updates). But that's not why I'm here. I'm here to clear some things up as to why I disappeared and why it's only now that I've come back. If you don't wanna read this (cuz I'd imagine it's gonna get a bit long) I'll throw a tl:dr in for ya.
Now, my absence...the big thing that caused me to disappear was mostly due to lack of confidence. Despite the overwhelmingly positive feedback with comments, and up-votes, I let the few negative comments get to me and shake my confidence in my ability to write. Then, it just kinda...snowballed from there. I ended up moving. Which wasn't a problem in and of itself, but I never sat back down to try and write again. Every time I had thought about trying to pick up writing again, the negative comments just replayed in my brain and I went, "Nope, not doin' it." Then, as time went on, some normal life stuff went on, and then...I ended up with a kid and shortly after that, I got married to the lady I had the kid with. While we weren't "ready" per say for a kid, we weren't opposed to having him. So, on top of work, I also had to manage having a little person running around.
After that, things kinda calmed down to the point where I could've probably started working on stories again...but then...my wife's brother died in a car accident. He had planned to open a resteraunt with his mum along with my wife's other sister. Then, after his death, the sister became a total jerk about his life insurance money and refused to help with the restaraunt...Which meant my wife and I literally had to drop everything in our life to move to her hometown where the resteraunt was to be set up and...here we are now. The business is going and I now work 7 in the morning to about 8 in the evening from Monday to Friday and from 7 to 11 on Saturday.
However, despite all that...I wanna try again. I want to try writing again, to see if I was actually good enough to elicit the praise I got back then, or if it was a fluke and the negative bits were true. I mean, lets be real: it's been like...4 years. Surely that's enough time for me to be like, "Mkay, I'm gonna do it no matter what."
So! To those of you that cared about my writing, fret not! I've already got something in the works and should be up...soon...probably. I dunno, it all depends on a few things. Optimally though, I should have something up by the end of the week.
To those of you down here for the tl:dr, it all comes down to a gut punch from life.
P.S. I'm a little curious as to how many of you are still here after all these years from my followers so leave a comment or something to show you're still here. And to those people...sorry I left for so long.
That's quite a lot of life that happened to you. Like, I half-expect this to serve as the pilot episode to a sitcom, coming this fall.
