Things I Have to Write Down and Share - Volume 001 · 12:34am Apr 8th, 2013
So, sometimes I just think of stuff I want to place under public speculation, so I guess that's what blogs are for. Here goes!
The season three finally was a while ago now. So I am not writing about my reaction to it. OK, maybe I'll just say: it confused me a bit and other stuff. Done with that. Now here's what I think about it after being given time and other peoples opinions to consider.
Making Twilight an alicorn this early in the show is a strange thing to do. But, it is not the end of the show. It actually gives the show's writers a new challenge, by forcing them to show us what can happen after the “perceived conclusion” of the broader storyline. There's a lot of stuff that can change with the show after alicorn Twilight, these do not have to be dramatic changes, I'm rather looking forward to seeing what the more subtle ones will be.
Yes, alicorn Twilight may have been planned as a finally for the show originally. But I'll try to be optimistic and look at the show as open-ended now. I think the only true end to the show [as we know it] will happen when there are no more lessons to be learned. And even then, they could focus on applying learned lessons to future situations to help reinforce the learning.
I have my own ideas about what Princess Twilight's role will be, but I hope to use it in a story I am err… procrastinating over planning. (Do your language skills ever fail to let you express your thoughts? Maybe sometimes my thoughts just aren't well formed enough to know how to express. Meh…) So I'll keep those ideas to myself for now. Then again, I'm not certain I will even have Twilight go alicorn in my story; it is already tagged as Alternate Universe after all. But, but, oh well, stuff to think about, have I. Twilight's status, or lack thereof, will probably have minimal impact on my story (I know, over using the word “story”), because she already has what it takes anyway. I'll stop here on this topic, sound good? Good!

I finally remembered to write about this! Discord.
So I am under the impression that quite a few people think that discord is chaos. Perhaps I'm just imagining it though, as I haven't actually asked anyone what they think. I think that discord and chaos are similar, related even, but not the same. I even suspect some to think that discord and chaos are the same as randomness. Perhaps randomness, at it's greatest extreme, is actually very similar to how chaos looks at it's own extreme, but even then, they are different, because they are still defined differently in the end. Randomness is unguided, and does not care what is what. Chaos is dependent on what it affects. Discord is dependent on who/what is affects. Chaos and discord are more similar to each other than to randomness.
And another thing! Humans are not random. OK, my sister is random, but that's a different kind of random. Anyway, I could go on about how humans are not random, but that would get into chaos theory, and I don't want to look silly when I get something wrong.
So here's what I think: Discord can exist in a universe (I hate using that word, because it's so vague, but I don't know any better word) with no randomness what-so-ever, because discord is a lack of cooperation between living things. And things can both live not cooperate on some level without randomness as long as there is sufficient complexity. Think reactivity and fractals.
