A special edition blog all about practically useless SVG animation! To be more precise, frame based animation!
So I was wanting to make a GIF-like animation using a SVG file to uh, pull together some images and provide timing info with SMIL animation. I started out trying a much more complex animation, but something didn't work, so I gave it a rest. Then I am re-watching some episodes of the show that I think I only saw one time, and something catches my eye. I had to make a loop of this. So this time, I keep it simple, I still run into some problems, but because there are only four frames, there isn't a lot of text to search through or change, and figure out what is wrong and fix it. So here is my enchanting animation! (img elements do not support animation in svg files, at-least in firefox. And I can't use an object element on this site. So you'll have to follow a link. Oh, and there probably isn't much support for SVG animation in mobile broswers, so you'll likely need a proper full feature browser.)
I'm thinking about making a little bit more complex version that also has a caption, but not today.
OK, so this is pretty much useless, unless browsers start supporting animation in img elements. But anyway, if you want to make your own, I basically followed this tutorial, but used jpg images for the individual frames.
four frames, three images, one frame is used twice: 39.9 KB, 39.8 KB, and 39.6 KB
What the flaring nostrils...
