Author of the Tarnished Silver series. I write clopfics with too many emotions in them. My work is very niche, but my readers are a wonderfully enthusiastic bunch, so I must be doing something right?

    Suddenly!

    ...anyone still here?

Hi, everybody. I doubt anyone else has even noticed, nor would I expect them to, but ten years ago today, I uploaded a weird little clop story called Tarnished Silver to this site.

Tarnished Silver: The Audiobook (Plus: foreign language editions, and a teaser for something new!)

FACT: In our busy modern world of smartphones and red pandas, few of us have time to sit down and read books, let alone morally questionable horse fanfiction. Thus we have seen the meteoric rise of the audiobook, which allows people to take in a story while doing something else, like flying a jet between two narrow canyons under heavy enemy fire, or jogging. But until now, there's been no

    "Baby Steps"

Those two words in yesterday's episode managed to completely redefine the episode, and possibly the character of Fluttershy, for me. I think they might be the two most important words she's ever spoken. Here's why.

A new story is coming tomorrow!

Why yes, I am a shameless whore , thank you for noticing.

Tomorrow afternoon (that's Friday CST, people of the world) the internet will be forced to endure another entry in the Tarnished Silver canon. It's a one-shot, but I'm actually quite pleased with it, which is something I don't usually say about my own writing.

Amazing new fanart (image and blog contain SPOILERS for the latest chapter) and epub updates! · 4:37am Apr 1st, 2013

Once again: don't read further if you want to avoid Chapter 22 spoilers.

I cried for Aurora for the first time this morning.

Well, it was more like a couple of tears. Liquid pride and all that. But it happened.

It's not that I didn't feel emotional when I wrote Aurora's death scene. But it didn't hit me all that hard, because I'd already known she was going to die when I began writing Silver Sky months ago, and her death scene had existed in my head long before I actually wrote it. But then MPA, who you may remember from fanart of Happy Tune, surprised me with this wonderful fanart depicting the end of chapter 22.

Check it out here.

If you have a Deviantart login you can also view it on MPA's DA page.(I decided not to embed it since that would cause FimFiction to put a spoiler image right on the story page.)

Looking at that brought me over the edge and really made me feel the full impact of Aurora's death.

You don't see a lot of characters in fiction die with their eyes open. Typically they close their eyes right before the end, or, if it's a movie, they might turn their heads away from the camera. I wanted to avoid that, and I think the fact that her eyes are wide open is the most striking thing about this image. MPA captured that lifeless look on Aurora so well. It's hard for me to look at her without feeling a bit guilty. It's similar to how I felt about Happy Tune, but turned up to eleven.

I don't regret killing Aurora off. It's an important event in the story for various reasons. But I'll miss her, and am reminded just how much a character's death can really impact a reader.

Thanks so much, MPA, for helping me remember that.

In other awesome fanwork news, Kirakina is back with the latest installments of her ebook version of A Silver Sky. Please go here to get the ebooks of previous stories. This link contains every chapter up to the current one. She also added a clickable title page.

Thanks, Kirakina! I actually have this on my phone now. Really handy for checking up on plot details when I'm away from my computer!

Sorry about the lack of author notes lately, by the way. I'll try to get on that soon. There's a lot to talk about!

Damn, I shouldn't have looked at that picture, but I couldn't help it. I'm several chapters behind. Oh well, it was my fault, I was warned.
