Sent it Thursday evening, fixed minor grammar issues, resent Saturday and accepted Saturday night.
I'm making a note here, huge success.
Few notes:
1) EqD has taken a lot of flack for their new three strikes policy, but I'm kinda liking it for a few reasons.
One reason is turnaround time, I've read that turnaround time from first submission to pre-reader feedback can take up to a week. I got pre-reader feedback for both my submissions within four hours of my emails, and a note from seth saying 'yo, recieved' within half an hour. Obviously it's not cause and effects, EqD had very few issues with my story other than a bit of grammar and spelling so pre-reading didn't take very long; but anything that frees their queues up for more of my awesome stuff is good in my books.
Another reason is focus and discipline. If it weren't for three strikes, I'd have been a lot more devil-may-care about sending it in without editing first. I did a fair bit of rewriting, snipped a few bits that needed snipping (the bit about mending bones wasn't that awesome), added a few bits that needed adding, fixed a bunch of tense fudge-ups, fixed spelling inconsistencies like changing all gryphon to griffon, fixed dialogue issues, all stuff like that. Then, when I went back over it for the second round, I found I'd missed a whole bunch of that stuff again. If I hadn't bothered to fix these issues beforehand, I'd have needed at least another round of pre-reading, wasted more pre-reader time, put less thought into the story and generally been a worse writer because of it.
2) FEEDBACK! GIVE ME FEEDBACK! I CRAVE FEEDBACK!
3) So many more trackers! This is a good thing! I am happy!
4) The entire story has been changed from past to permanent present tense. I found that when I write any action heavy scenes I naturally go into PP tense anyhoo, and it just feels a lot more natural.
5) I have an image! Not a great image! Made from GIMP and Paint with screencaps!
6) Seriously, give me feedback. Ask me questions. Tell me things that suck. Tell me things that are awesome. I fucking live for feedback, and sindri has disappeared into meatspace. FEED ME WITH FEEDBACK!
