Nicknack? Commissions? It's more likely than you think... · 3:38am Feb 28th, 2013

...but it's also going to a charitable cause.

I posted about this specific project on the Las Pegasus Unicon Relief forum; essentially, I'm auctioning off a 15k-word story written about whatever the highest bidder chooses. I'm not entirely sure about the commission process, but I do vow to work with whoever it is on making sure that they walk away from this effort happily.

I wish I could say I was doing this solely for charity, but seeing how I've fallen on rough-ish times, taking advantage of the 75/25 split. If this lack of selflessness offends you, I apologize; putting this optimistically, I'd say that you at least have some security in this story since I, technically, have a stake in writing it to the utmost of my abilities.

Also, since I don't want to take focus away from this, I should mention that Evening Flames is coming along slowly, but steadily. I don't have an ETA yet (since I'm overdue on my last estimation by a long shot).

While I have virtually no experience with Internet-based monetary transactions and far too little disposable funds to contribute, I wish you the best of luck in your fundraising efforts. Sorry I can't contribute more than that. :twilightsheepish:

Nick would it be ok if we bid on your work, and then just let it be Evening Flames? I would be satisfied with that and knowing I helped.

Also where exactly does one bid?

What exactly is this LPU Relief League, and what happened at Las Pegasus to warrant it?

You could do that, but I'd probably still feel like I owed a shorter commission at the end of it. :twilightblush:

From what I can tell, the convention didn't fully clear things with the hotel it was at, which basically meant some people had to pay for their hotel rooms a second time. Since they're out of that money in the short term (until Unicon / the hotel work things out, with or without litigation), boom. Relief fund.

Ahh. Disappointing, but makes sense.
