    The Long and Winding Road

So yeah. It's been a while, huh? I can try and blame a vast multitude of things on why I haven't been doing really anything recently, but that'd only be half true.

But making excuses for my lack of activity isn't why I'm here right now.

Okay, maybe they weren't too exaggerated after all.

11 days without power or heat. That's what that damn hurricane did to me. I'll see what I can put together because I haven't posted anything in far too long.

Also the new eps were pretty good. Couple of interesting tidbits that I think hint at things yet to come.

The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.

I am alive, I do plan on resuming updating, and I think you're all swell.

I'll be writing a short one-off for the Halloween event for the TCB group, similar to my Jersey Devil story from last year; just not in that same format. Let's see if these last two months haven't sapped my ability to write.

LAST MAN STANDING SEQUEL BLOG POAST

Yeah so remember when I said that I was going to work on that sequel to Last Man Standing as my NoPoWriMo entry? Lots of stuff came up that prevented me from feeling any kind of desire to write. At all.

    BUT!

    End of a story

So Ten Days is done! I'll toss an epilogue up when I get around to it, but right now I'm working on the opening chapter to my LMS sequel. I was going to make it an awesome adventure story, but because my brain isnt working nice, I'm dropping that and taking it another route, something more localized and simpler. Something that'll pull me out of my comfort zone.

I'm not going to spoil the new episode, but i did notice something very interesting. Twilight mentions seeing "The Horsehead Nebula" in her telescope. The horsehead nebula is a formation of dark gas particles obscuring part of the orion nebula, creating a silhouette int he shape of a horse's head. We can infer a few things about this:

1. The constellation Orion is visible in Equestria's sky.
2. If Equestria can see the horsehead nebula, then they must occupy a very similar galactic coordinate set that earth does to see the occlusion of the nebula to see the horsehead shape.

While it is possible to say "Hey! This may just be another unrelated nebula!" I still doubt that.

So, drawing our conclusions, we come up with:

a. Equestria is actually a past or future earth
b. Equestria is an alternate earth in another universe

I lean towards b, because that would explain the names of cities and such as influences from our universe as well as the existence of magic.

So where does that leave us?

TCB is semi-canon. It would be possible for Equestria and the Earth to merge with each other if the right spell was cast, since they are twins of each other.

So that's what I did with my day so far.

That sounds pretty good to me. I notice they also mentioned a city of Los Pegasus.

Of course, for Twilight to have any reason to monitor the stars would mean that they are real things, actually there, and not a backdrop with which Luna paints the sky.

A viable theory and provides very nice grounds for storytelling and fanfics. Although from a writer's viewpoint I'd put my money on the simplest explanation, namely that it's much easier to pick things that exist in our reality and port them directly over to the MLP:FiM universe.

My thought's exactly.

This is true; Occam's razor and such. Again, it is entirely possible that they have a horsehead nebula in their reality, I just thought that it fit well, especially with the city naming conventions they use as being influence from our reality.

I personally like a), Equestria being a future Earth where humanity has been wiped out by some cataclysmic event. It would explain all the influences it has in pony culture, like architecture, mugs, doorknobs, Lyra, etc.
Maybe that which wiped out the humans is also responsible for introducing magic to the world. This explanation wouldn't be at odds with TCB universe either. :)
Although I do consider TCB a separate reality entirely.
