A Major Step Foward · 4:26pm Feb 12th, 2013
Well, it's done. As of fifteen minutes ago, 'Dear Sweetie Belle' has been submitted to Equestria Daily. Please keep your fingers crossed.
It seems that folks are just not going to stop hounding me , until I buckle down and finish 'Dear Scootaloo.' I wonder... when it's done, will you all be done with me?
In any case, I'm trying to push through 'Suddenly, Spikey' and 'Can You Read My Mind?' since they're romance stories and this is February. The sequel to 'Lost in the Night,' now titled 'Phases of the Moon' is consuming my every thought, so that's the next big one.
After that... I suppose I've got a letter to write.
I won't leave when Dear Scootaloo is up, because after that, I know even more epic stuff will be posted And I hope you make it to EqD, seeing how I'm surprised that you didn't already!
But if I leave after Dear Scootaloo, I won't be able to hound you for Dear Babs Seed or Dear Silver Spoon or whatever.
Dear Scootaloo! And Lost In The Night is my favorite from your stories! keep up the good work.
'Dear Sweetie Belle' should've been on EQD long ago, Jade. Frankly, I can't believe you haven't been trying to get it there since it had a following; it would've been ridiculously popular by now among Sweetie fans. It is definitely one of those stories you can keep reading over and over and over. 'Dear Scootaloo' should probably end the letters, though, as you had only aimed at the original three crusaders. Dont't be going into 'Dear Babs Seed' when it gets finished or you might just have some characters to write even more letters for as soon as you're done with that one.
822653 Want to hear something embarassing? The selfish part of me has always wanted to write that ONE fic that connects with people and becomes majorly popular. Not just here, but with the entire fandom. The overwhelming love 'Dear Sweetie Belle' recieved on FIMfiction actually convinced me to keep writing. It's still my favorite story I've written, and still the one closest to my heart. I was looking back at my other fics the other day and was astounded by the amount of things I'd change in them.
I wouldn't change one word of 'Dear Sweetie Belle.'
As to the other letters, I think you're right. 'Dear Scootaloo' will close that circle. 'Dear Rarity' became 'Paternally Yours' because the title didn't fit. I had a story idea that involved AJ finding a letter from her parents, but it would just be more of the same. (Plus there's a revelation about the Apple Family in 'Phases of the Moon' that is going to BLOW YOUR MIND that renders that idea pointless)
I love Babs, SPOILERshe'ssettoappearintheadventuresofthetimedefenseguildSPOILER, but I could never do a letter for her. Not enough to go on.
I'm NOT ruling out a sequel to 'Dear Applebloom' in the vein of 'Paternally Yours.' But then, I hardly ever rule out a story. Who knows what the future may hold?
...(Sigh) 'Suddenly, Spikey' is getting on my nerves. Dialogue feels stilted and forced. May abandon to work on 'Can You Read My Mind?' until I go to bed.

'Dear Sweetie Belle' actually reminds me somewhat of Somber's 'Simply Rarity' in that they are both based on a mysteriously unknown past that Rarity has, and that's probably the real point in each story. Oh yeah, and let's not forget that in neither story is Sweetie Belle an actual sister by birth to Rarity. If you haven't read 'Simply Rarity', you should. it may be a 'Sad' story, but I definitely recommend it, and it's on EQD.
As for your love for 'Dear Sweetie Belle', I find that once a really 'out of this world' idea comes to my mind, I can't seem to drop it. My most current of these that applies to pony fiction deals with Scootaloo, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight Sparkle. It would probably be a sequel, though, as certain details are still unclear to how things would come about.
A sequel to 'Dear Apple Bloom' in the vein of 'Paternally Yours' would be interesting, as the circumstances surrounding 'Bloom are different than that of 'Belle. I suppose you'd probably bring the Apples' maternal side into play, which could potentially bring in some interesting factors to the storyboard. Heck, it could even tie in with 'Dear Scootaloo' if you did things right.
When you say 'BLOW YOUR MIND', I'd probably expect something so ridiculous that it literally has not been used in the fandom yet. My aforementioned Scootaloo Idea happens to be such an idea as far as I know, and it was further stimulated during the course of Season Three. I've seen some really interesting ideas come about, and hope to see what you mean in the future; hopefully it actually will catch me off guard.
Truthfully, I actually haven't read any of your stories outside of the ones linked to 'Dear Sweetie Belle'. I'll have to rectify that, and get back to you as I go along. Hope to see epicness in the other stories!
823101 The 'Dear' continuity currently contains the following stories;
-Dear Sweetie Belle
-Dear Applebloom
-Morning Glory
-Paternally Yours
-The Sin of Envy, or a Mother's Love
-Lost in the Night (trust me on this, they take place in the same timeline)
Which means the non-continuity stories are;
-The Cask of Appletillado
-Slender
-Saying Good-Bye
-The Adventures of the Time Defense Guild
-Oral History of the Rise of the New Lunar Republic
Thanks for the reccomendation, and I look foward to seeing what you can do with your ideas.

My big problem is actually getting something started. That, and I need an outline if I'm even going to start in the first place.
825827 Thanks for the reccoemndation of 'Simply Rarity.' I liked it.
Also, suffice to say that you will never see one of my fics on EqD.

It really doesn't matter. EQD isn't the highest level of MLP fanfics in sheer number; there are quite a few thousand more here on FiMfiction. All that EQD does is get you noticed by a few more people.
There are other stories I can recommend, just depends on how Dark, Sad, Tragic, Adventurous, Comedic, and Well-Written you want them to be. Some are only on EQD, though, like 'Simply Rarity'.
One of the more interesting stories I've read on EQD is part of a three-story group; this one in particular is called 'Burlap'. All I can remember of the story listings for it is that it's a 6-Star under Comedy. Certainly made me laugh, but then you may have a different sense of humor.
As far as 'Simply Rarity' goes, I'm actually fairly curios as to the fate of Unique. What if she actually survived, and trying to find out who she is, runs into Sweetie Belle one day? It would be interesting to see how things could play out, considering that Rarity believes her dead.
Hopefully 'Dear Scootaloo' will be just as good as its predecessors, and you'll finally have the original trio over and done with. I'm actually kinda hoping for 'Dear Babs Seed' even though it won't happen. I know it won't change anything but I think you could pull it off. You'd probably have to wait until Season four anyway for some real info on her.

Going back to my story ideas, I think my current line of thought is spanning a multiverse perspective somewhat different from what I've seen in the fandom so far. I think I've come to a point where combining several of my worlds together could create a Dark/Adventure focusing on the Crusaders of one Equestria, eventually spanning out to other Equestrias as the story progresses, kind of like 'The Sweetie Chronicles: Fragments', though nowhere near as light on the histories of the individual worlds.
I'd probably start it all off one story at a time, but things would need to escalate fairly quickly but leave readers with both questions and the desire for more. My own personal rewrite of several of the stories in my ever growing Favorites list would definitely be required for certain key points to take place, yet I don't know crap about writing in the first place, so I don't even know where to begin. My most current ideas for the crusaders only extend to Scoots and Sweetie Belle, some details of which have changed quite a few times since I first thought them up. For the Main Six, I've only got stuff for Pinkie, Fluttershy, Rarity and Rainbow Dash, the last two being the only significant points of interest for now. I can see Pinkie being fairly major, but that's just in the air at the moment.
876994 You really wanna be careful about crossing your continuities, no matter how good the story is.
I'm going to do a feature on it soon, but I started writing a fic a while back called 'Our Darkest Days' that was going to cross the 'Dear' Continuity with the alternate Equestria in 'Oral History of the New Lunar Republic.' The story got WAY too big for it's britches and I ended up cancelling it three chapters in.
Man, it feels good to talk stories with somebody.
