I've been thinking about writing a story... and by now at this point already some of you are thinking, "Write it then." But its not near as simple as just writing it, I don't even know how to start or how to end it. For me writing is all in my mind, I think up the plot and all the other goodies and then write as my mind tells me to. I don't write down the entire plot in a list and then base it off of that, it just feels wrong to me. Back to the idea in mind, I want to somehow add Chernobyl to the mix. How? I have no idea. That's the thing, I don't know if the radiation is going to bridge two minds, create a visual portal, send one person to another land, or even a pony into the midst of the meltdown. I just don't know how to start it, or even what would be done. Keep in mind though, if this story is followed through with I am going to make the events of Chernobyl as accurate as I can find them to be, from the exact date of occurrence.
Some may be thinking, why Chernobyl? It interests me, the fact that thousands of people were evacuated in an instant, left everything behind, and just how it affected everything. The condition of the reactor, and what could happen with a bit of magic, plus the radiation. Who knows how it would affect our beloved ponies, maybe the magic in Equestria is just radiation?

I for one would be interested in the story. It's definitely a great concept with a fair bit of breathing room to provide, but do note a bit of some cultural sensitivity with the topic.

So, you're looking to write about something relating to Chernobyl?
Well, what about a new source of energy being added to Ponyville using a special type of ore found (read nuclear material) that promises to revolutionize the kingdom, but something goes wrong and Ponyville or even most of Equestria is now a wasteland. You can even add the mutated ponies angle too if you want. The ponies that survive have to relocate and rebuild their homes and lives. You can even have a character like Twilight narrate it as if she's looking back upon that day or have it like a diary entry.
Make an OC named Chernobyl who constantly spills things which take a long time to clean up.
The story can begin when she falls in love with Blockbuster, a pony with dynamite looks in spite of his explosive temper. Will love succeed?
