The dark side beckons (now in Twitter-sized bits) · 10:43pm Jan 17th, 2013
Every time I write a strong reaction line, I have the urge to end the chapter right then and there. This is how cliffhangers come to be, people; beware.
(Sharing the Night Chapter 6: 10,300 words so far as of this moment, by the way, just in case you clicked on this expecting something worthwhile)
What kept you away from fimfiction for so long?
Edit: I mean like 2 months ago.
Thanks for the update. Have a best pony. b
That's a good sized chapter right now anyways. I am excited.
Thanks for the update. I'm happy to see that you're making good progress with your story.
10k already?
Aw yiss.
Thank you based Caryatid.
Aww yeah!

It basically came down to being too busy for a while, after which I just had so much backlog in various things that I could either work on catching up with it (and invariably feel worse for doing so) or try to actually get through my problems with chapter 5. Maybe also a little bit of not wanting to get people's hopes up after failing to deliver for so long, but mostly the dreading the backlog thing.
I know it was kind of lousy to not even post updates after I'd specifically said I was going to do stuff like that, but spending ~8 months on one chapter was about as much fun for me as it was to wait for it, so I really had to put writing first.
It also wasn't just fimfiction stuff that I fell back on either; I didn't even watch season 3 until after I finished that chapter, to give you an idea of what I mean. Heck, I still have two and a half months of EQD music posts to go through and something like 168,000 words of Background Pony alone to catch up on.
That's. . .really busy.
721317 Dang, well congratulations on clearing your backlog.

A lot of it was my own fault. I used to try to keep track of all the updates that came through fimfiction, but had to give up on that when I realized just how much time I was spending just scrolling through the list
I just tend to do things single-mindedly. When I read a book or a new story, I do that straight through until I finish. When I write, I write until I get stuck on something. Sadly, the latter usually happens much sooner
Glad to see you're actually taking the time out to post stuff. The hardest part of the wait for Chapter 5 was the fact that you just left. I mean, had you made a post saying that you would be gone for a long while, you would not get anywhere NEAR as many "Where is next chapter" posts and comments as you did. Readers are good like that. <3
I still have to pinch myself whenever I see that you are still alive.
I know the feel, it's like. Oooo a good line, I wanna end the chapter here. Then I look at the amout of words and realise it's only 200 words in xD
>Sharing the Night Chapter 6: 10,300 words so far
A very decent word count for a chapter, so combined with...
>Every time I write a strong reaction line, I have the urge to end the chapter right then and there. This is how cliffhangers come to be, people; beware.
Means what you saying is, any moment now, you'll succumb to the temptation and a new chapter will appear. And this could happen any time? You're such a tease.
*Mashes F5 a few times. Remembers that fimfiction gives you live notifications. Awkwardly apologies to keyboard.*

It'll still be a little while yet. I don't usually write "draft" style (except for some dialogue exchanges, which I'll write all the dialogue, then go back and fill in the rest,) but there are a few bits I need to smooth over.
