Got a thousand words down · 11:48am Dec 26th, 2012
I've got my outline down, and an initial draft of part of the first chapter. I can see that it could be better - it's entirely possible none of what I've written so far will make it into the final draft, since I'm not committing myself to post anything before I'm done editing. But I'm pleased with myself; it may not be the 2k/day I was powering through as I rocketed through the first few dozen chapters of "Myou've", but there's a /much/ larger difference between zero and one than there is between one and two.
Several other stories in the same fanfic-fanfic vein, and some of the discussion threads in the group, have already started touching on some of the ideas I'm trying to work with... but even if all the ground gets covered before I hit it, I still think I just might end up with something worth reading anyway. And even if I don't - the simple act of writing it will do /me/ good. For as somebody-or-other once said:
On the mountains of truth you can never climb in vain: either you will reach a point higher up today, or you will be training your powers so that you will be able to climb higher tomorrow.
I have no idea what you just said, but if it means I will soon enjoy another chapter of Myou've all I can say is:

What group? :-/ where else have you seen the same ideas?

That would be the Optimalverse.
Explain to me how there is a larger difference between 0-1 and 1-2.

It's an old engineer's saying. If you want to be mathematically precise, the difference I'm describing is that which is between the empty set, {}, and 1, rather than between 0 and 1. Think of the difference between having a lever that can be pushed from notch 1 to notch 2... and not having a lever at all to push even to 1.

Makes sense. I had thought of that when I read it but decided to ask anyway in case I was wrong.
