An Early Christmas Gift: 'Dearly Beloved' · 5:39pm Dec 24th, 2012

Festive greetings one and all. As I sit here working on 'Dear Rarity' it occurs to me that you, my readers, deserve something special in this holiday season. Lucky for you, I made a cool little discovery today. I was digging through one of my notebooks looking for the old 'Dear Sweetie Belle' notes and stumbled across the notes for one of my fics I never wrote; 'Dearly Beloved.'

'Dearly Beloved' was intended to be the prequel to 'Morning Glory' and reveal the details of the big Apple wedding. I ultimately decided that the story was unnecessary and scrapped it, but I kept the notes.

When I write a story, I'll long-hand rough versions of certain scenes and lines of dialogue to help me get a feel for the narrative. What follows is a collection of scenes and dialogue that would have been integrated into the final work. 'Morning Glory' fans should really get a kick out of some of these reveals. Please to enjoy. (Fluttershy has locked herself in bathroom. Applejack is the only one let in and shares a tender moment with her.)

"Don't ya get it, girl? After today, yer not just my friend. Yer gonna be my sister."

(In the midst of the ceremony, someone comments on the elaborate arch Applebloom built for the event. Applebloom gets her cutie-mark; a hammer and a flower.)

(Mac and Fluttershy's first dance. Sweetie Belle sings 'So This is Love' from 'Cinderella.' Gets cutie-mark during song.)

(Spike and Rarity are dancing.)

"Spike." She whispered hotly in his ear. "I'm trying to seduce you. Do try to keep up, darling."

(The reception)

"C'mon Twilight. It's a party! Lighten up a little." Dash shoved the mug of hard cider at her so hard that it almost spilled all over her.

"I don't know, Rainbow. I have to find Spike..."

"Oh stop. He'll be fine." Dash thought about it for a minute and perked up. "Look at it this way; what would Princess Celestia do?"

This only strengthened Twilight's resolve further. "She certainly would not get as rip-roaring drunk as half the ponies here are."

"No... I'd get even MORE rip-roaring drunk than that!"

The normally calm and serene voice of her mentor had been replaced by a raucous college co-ed's squeal. Twilight rounded to find the ruler of Equestria staggering slightly before her, a half empty cup of hard cider floating near her face.

She took another draught and grinned. "Your friend is right, my most failful student."

"Faithful." Twilight corrected automatically, still in shock. "Princess? Are you...?"

"Deep in the barrel?" Celestia drained the mug. "Absholutely."

A series of giggle/hiccups came from behind the statuesque goddess. Twilight peeked around to find Princess Luna already on the ground.

"Forgive our behavior, Twilight Sparkle. We so rarely get to go out these days."

Twilight finished the drink and slammed the mug on the table. "Double." She demanded.

"Huzzah!" Princess Luna yelled drunkenly. "The cider has been doubled!"

(The CMC decide to hook RD and AJ up. They spike the pair's cider with the tiniest amount of love potion. AJ and RD are last seen heading into the house after a slow dance, AJ leading and flicking her tail in RD's face.)

(Brief cameo by Shining and Cadance. Not sure if Cadance should be pregnant or have Morning Dew yet...)

(Story ends with CMC getting hard cider once everpony else is passed out. Scoots decides to leave and find her special talent while abroad. They toast each other as the story ends.)

"To the next step?"

They grinned and clinked the mugs together. "THE NEXT STEP!"
