I’ll be back next time with a preview of shows in the upcoming season.
Tonari no Youkai-san
Boy, this show really goes hard on both the straightfaced absurdity and feels. The craziest things are commonplace in this world.
"You have pretty eyes."
"Oh yeah, my grandfather was a banana."
Train to the End of the World
It's amazing how dark Train to the End of the World can get even before the opening credits. The rest of this episode came so fast it was hard to stop and take it in.
Delicious in Dungeon
More party members, more problems.
Demon Slayer
Yeah, the training arc is filler. We knew that. We also were going to watch it anyway.
Okay, no, not really filler, just more backstory than action.
The Fable
Dropped at episode seven. I had never really cared for the introduction of the psycho brother, distracting from the main character’s narrative, and things came to a head this episode.
And now down into the manga.
List organized in rough order of my most to least favorite.
Love Train
Students wish on a cat for romance.
Where train? Could be an okay romcom. The author has stated one of the couples will be yuri. Not many chapters yet, so I need to check back later.
Sacchan and Ken-chan Are Going at it Again
A guy is embarrassed about being the bottom to his girlfriend.
It's a fine monogamous relationship, but I wish it had more than one joke. Ecchi.
A Manga About A Beautiful Girl
Dog.
Mild comedy, short chapters.
Stage S
A guy befriends a god who can see the future. After being told he is going to die, he arranges things with his girlfriend. However, after dying, he finds out his girlfriend is also going to die and sets out with borrowed god power to save her.
Kind of romance, kind of spirit detective action. I'm not really sure why it seemed kind of mundane. Maybe the protagonist is just uninteresting.
Female Commander X Soldier
Gap moe General.
Short chapters. Not much worth seeing.
Using Feminization Skills to Enter The Land of Witches, Where Men are Forbidden
A guy gets isekai'd and gets the cheat power to...turn into a girl.
There aren't many chapters yet, but my scrolling hand got tired early.
McDonald’s has really gone all in on the anime lately, to the point of crossing over...Yu-gi-oh and Hello Kitty
Yeah, how about that Train ep? I do wonder what was up with the super-itchy place. Related to why the people seemed to have turned into stacks of rocks or just coincidence? But the shogi stuff was both cool and disturbing. Is that based on something? If not, they developed an awful lot of lore for a one-off joke. The hero who likes suicide threw me for a loop in a good way. I kept having to pause to read the info on all the villains as they were flipping pages. If I'm writing those, I'd be a little pissed they blast by so fast most viewers won't bother with them. And then it ends with a serious twist that should take a while to pay off and presumably will be built upon regularly. That show knows how to keep up interest well.
