    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 35

    Men at Work.

The greatest Australian hit machine of the early 80's.

Who Can It Be Now? was at the end of my story, so here's another from the same 1981 album, Business as Usual.

Be Good Johnny by Men at Work.

I only like dreaming all the day long...

Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 34 (Oh my gosh Flurry Heart is Still the Cutest Thing Ever)

Ok, this is the only time I'll skip posting a song from an album. (But don't worry, there's a different band down below. It's a twofer today.)

Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard is a sort-of prog rock album that came out in 2017.

I don't really want to link a specific song though, as I can just do this (and I swear this is perfectly legal):

My current Pfp is so downright adorable, it's gonna stay for a while.

You will probably see some minor edits, but I love it too much to change it.

Flurry Heart has really grown on me since I've read some fanfics about her.

I don't even care for her depiction in the show in the slightest.

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 33

In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson is a wonderful progressive rock album.

    (Released in 1969)

I will most definitely give each of the songs on the album a blog post at some point, but I gotta start with the absolutely phenomenal :

Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 12 · 12:37pm May 23rd

Swamp rock. Seems like a weird name for a genre, but if you've heard of it at all, pretty much only one band really comes to mind.

(And even if you haven't heard of "swamp rock" you've surely heard a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival before.)

All hail Nightmare Moon.

Bad Moon Rising by CCR, from the 1969 album Green River.

What do you mean what was going on with yesterday's blog post?

Oklahoma sees earthquakes and lightning. We're also having a bumper crop of tornadoes this spring.
🌪 ⚡ 🌪 :pinkiecrazy: 🌪 ⚡ 🌪

Southern Illinois is getting a smattering of thunderstorms today. Severity and length pending, as it's currently not raining.

5782523
You live in the middle tornado alley unfortunately. And the earthquakes are likely man made from all the oil fracking in Oklahoma, don’t know if you’ve heard about that but I have both a pretty keen interest in meteorology and seismology too. The weather channel was my favorite channel to watch as a little kid believe it or not lol.

5782525
Some huge storms missed Chicagoland just to the north in Wisconsin last night. Clear nice day here today though. Might storm tomorrow though.

Also, fun fact CCR has like 5 songs that reached #2 on the Hot 100 in the late 60s and early 70s but never had a #1 hit somehow. Look at their discography on Wikipedia lol. But still super popular and successful obviously. I like a number of their songs on my iPod. Lookin’ Out my Back Door is probably favorite, that being one of the #2 peaking songs on the Hot 100.

5782544
And of course Lookin' Out My Back Door actually mentions Illinois in the lyrics.

Do do do lookin' out my backdoor.

I did get rain earlier, but skies have stayed clear since.

Oh, I know all about fracking... and frakking.

There are severe storms and a tornado warning in far west OK right now. The OKC news channels love showing "wall-to-wall" coverage of that, at the expense of their shows. I'm missing Wheel of Fortune for at least the third time this month. :raritycry: I'm still mad over missing last week's finales of NCIS & NCIS: Hawaii.

5782554
The only thing I really liked about the series finale of Stargate: SG1 was the montage set to "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?"

5782562
Never seen it, but maybe I'll look that montage up sometime.

You can't go wrong with John Fogerty.:raritywink:

5782557
Lolol. Yeah fracking is kinda insane. Not the best thing for the enviromwnt. I remember maybe in like 2011 there was as 5.9 magnitude earthquake in north central Oklahoma. That’s a decent size earthquake that caused some minor damage if I recall in Oklahoma and Kansas. Crazy humans can create something like that.

Those dumb twisters… my parents love wheel of fortune haha. I’m sorry the weather isn’t cooperating but I guess it is spring in the middle of tornado alley. I’m glad I wasn’t around in Moore Oklahoma for the 1999 tornado (an EF5 which had the most powerful winds ever recorded I believe at over 300 mph) and the 2013 Moore tornado which was an another EF5 which are quite rare. Pretty bad luck. :(

5782554
Not a cloud in the sky today here in Chicagoland

5782579
I definitely felt the 5.7 earthquake in 2011. And the foreshock the day before. And a few aftershocks in the following days. Urban legends say that animals are supposed to be scared by earthquakes, but my dogs couldn't have cared less. The 5.8 in 2016 was also fun. The 5.1 this February was loud. It's just silly to argue that fracking and wastewater injection wells don't cause earthquakes.

My first earthquake was in 1994, in Illinois, thanks to the New Madrid Fault. I just did some research, and it was a 4.2, centered near Anna, IL.

This is tangentially related to TD's blog, since the song mentions earthquakes.

5782600
And it's perfectly fine. Rd has drastically lowered my standards on what I deem acceptable to be commented on my stuff.

And guess what? I thought of my username long before I even heard of I'm not a brony, get me outta Equestria by Bronywriter (or a title of similar phrasing).

Because the main (human) character on that story is only known as TD.

:rainbowlaugh:

5782544
And believe or not, Anthropology by Jason the Human directly introduced me to CCR.

No, I'm not even joking.

5782645
It’s funny how you can find interesting things out of nowhere in places you least expect it. Like Tape Deck and Okie and others!

5782663
And Technicolor sprint Flood apocalypse movie!

5782664
I can’t say I know what that is specifically but I know what technicolor is lol

5782600
Got it. I hope you didn’t experience any damage but those must’ve been crazy to experience. I’m familiar with the new Madrid of southern Illinois, southeast Missouri (named after the town there) and northeast Arkansas. You might know this already but it’s the most seismically active zone east of the Rockies in the U.S. and actually the largest earthquakes in the lower 48 states happened there in 1811-1812 when it randomly released a few magnitude to 7 to up to 8.0 estimated, probably larger than any recorded in California, even the 1906 San Francisco quake. It’s kinda crazy to think about and it could happen again sometime, though probably not for hundreds of years still. 1811-1812 New Madrid Earthquakes

I’ve never experienced an earthquake myself since the two places I’ve lived in my life Chicago area and more recently the Phoenix Arizona area, but my girlfriend and I lrecently moved back to Chicagoland about 3 months ago for various reasons. We didn’t like Phoenix too much. Way too hot in the summer for starters. But it’s not prone to earthquakes either really

5782619
I hope that’s not a bad thing :twilightsheepish:. Like okie and I said southern Illinois does to this day occasionally get smallish but large enough quakes that can be felt. Have you felt any Tape deck? Just curious.

5782693
Not any to my knowledge in recent times.

And my standards have been happier than ever

5782693
My house has a few cracks in the sheetrock that I'm pretty sure are from the 2016 earthquake. As you likely know, Oklahoma is the 2nd most seismically active zone east of the Rockies. Probably.

OK is too hot for me. I can't imagine living in Phoenix, where it can stay above 100 F for days at a time.

5782619
My username was "inspired" by other users with place names and "brony" in their name.

I was introduced to one of my favorite groups, 2Cellos, in MadMaxtheBlack's "Your Family and You."

If you like Led Zeppelin, then you'll love their cover of "Whole Lotta Love." (You'll thank me later;-)

5782724
Oh gosh, I just now made the Okie->Oklahoma connection.:facehoof:

5782734
Saving that pic...:unsuresweetie:

:rainbowlaugh::rainbowlaugh:

5782724
Sorry you had some damage. And yeah I’m aware, and it’s pretty much man made too which is the really weird part like we talked about.

Yeah the weather in Phoenix sucked. It’s pretty much over near or over 100 every single day from April-October, and last year it was over 110 pretty much every day from June-August, reaching 120 a few times. The Sonoran desert with all the cacti and mountains is beautiful, but it’s too hot to actually enjoy for literally half the year straight.

5782735
Have you watched the 2Cellos videos yet?

5782759
I might get to them tomorrow; I won't forget.

5782763

I only really have time to listen to the LZ one tonight, and even though I haven't heard that specific LZ song yet, those dudes are awesome.
