I still think the "miscommunication" between Stygian and the heros was... kinda rediculous. He couldn't have asked Starswirl to help him with it? Couldn't have left a note? Asked Rockhoof to help make him stronger... or... anything? We're just gonna "Strategically Transfer Elements to an Alternate Location?"... S.T.E.A.L. them? But yes, even considering that I really don't have a huge problem with them either.
But something you have to remember is this is a list of "least favorite." Meaning OtC probably doesn't hate them, just has an issue that drags them down. But I feel OtC has a particular taste and could be interested in the show for completely different reasons comparatively.
