    A Possible Change

    Hello all,

Firstly, I'd like to thank you all for enjoying my writing so far. I appreciate you being so kind to my first attempts at ponyfic. Your kind words and helpful critique motivate me. That being said, I've been toying with the idea of rebooting my fic. I have wondered how my story would be received if I did things a bit differently. (Such as changing mc race, living situation, etc.)

This idea was born from indecisiveness and also a desire to challenge myself. :twilightsheepish:

Would anyone be interested in that, or do I just continue from where I am? I'm not set on the idea yet. I would like to hear your thoughts before I do anything. Please tell me your opinions.

I’d read that. I’d also read more of the current one. As long as the writer is liking the product, that enjoyment comes out in the writing.

Honestly I was enjoying "My life as a pony" just fine and I didn't think it needed any changes.
The RGRE was fine, the main character was fine, the characters were good overall. I see no reason to change it. (my use of the word "fine here" doesn't mean average, it's just I don't want to say good or great all the time)
Only problem with "rebooting" things is that they tend to start strong and then peter out, mostly because you're redoing what's already done and still doesn't hit that "perfect" note you're aiming for. At least that's the case 99% of the time.

So yeah, I'd just love to see the story continue as is, it's great and I want to see more.

Honestly, reworking stories that have already been partially written can have a bad effect on the story itself, both in the new and in the old. Try both options.
It’s normal to have doubts about how you wrote the story and want to try to change something or do something new, the main thing is to know what you ultimately expect from your story.
In any case, the main thing is that you like what you do (like this comment has been rewritten 10 times and I still don’t like the way I wrote it):pinkiecrazy:

I thought the story is interesting. The RGRE elements are smartly implemented, and the main character is growing on me. I'd love to see it continue.

I like to see it keep going whit the current story :)

I have liked current story, if you believe rebooting it will be more fun to write then go for it.

I think most of us like the current story and would like to see it continue. However, you are the person creating it. If you would like to move the story in a different direction then go for it. A story that you do not enjoy writing will not be written very well. I do suggest if you want to write a story like that with a change race into a changeling, kirin, dragon, etc…., then you should create another instead of editing or deleting this one. That lets people still read this one, even if it isn’t complete, and it lets you have the ability to come back and finish it if you decide to in the future.

The consensus seems to be to keep things the same :trixieshiftright:

Thank you all for the input. I do appreciate it.

After some consideration, I’ve decided to not change my story, as so many of you are content with my work as is. I’ll continue from where I am, and not overthink things. Stardust’s adventure shall continue, it’s barely started, after all.

If in the future I do decide I want to do something different, I can simply make another story rather than abandoning the current one.
