Shipping. You gotta love it, right?
Except if you're a fanfic writer like me. For a long time now, I have had a side ship I have been planning on introducing to one of my stories, but something has come up.
I'M SITTING HERE, AND I REALIZE THAT THEY'RE MEANT TO BE, PUTTING ME IN MISERYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!
So, with that reference out of the way, I have been thinking. While I have been intending to introduce a side ship into the story, a whole new ship idea came to me concerning one of the pair shipped with an entirely new character. Ship A is the perfect "come back together" type story but Ship B is the perfect "You're the first person I've loved" type story. UGH! My happy little gay brain loves to think of happy little gay ships and these characters fit so well together, but I can't actually choose one or the other. It is times like these that I legitimately think "Why, God? Why do you task me with these meaningless yet super hard choices?"
The only solution there seems to be is "Make all three of them just kiss each other" like a poly relationship. However, I also have cons with that choice since it would make some of the storytelling muddied.
So now, I'm stuck here. Sitting at my laptop, a blank page in front of me, knowing what I want to write, while also knowing the other ship that is almost too enticing to pass up. At the same time, I can't ask anyone for advice without giving up my plans to the public or spoiling my friends or asking the friends who know NOTHING about Equestria Girls.
I'm screwed, aren't I?
Why did God have to make me a fanfic writer with dreams so big that I need to show them to the world?
Well, since I don't know which characters you're talking about (and I'm hoping two of them aren't a certain speedster and promising veterinarian), I guess I can only offer one suggestion:
Which ship do you feel more strongly for?

That's the problem. I felt more strongly for Ship A previously, but now I feel more for Ship B and I don't know which is the best choice. I don't know if I will regret one or the other. Ship A is cute and wholesome about love persevering and all that, but Ship B has a lot of chemistry and seems really cute too.
Could you just write multiple stories?
What Daybreaker said. Nobody said you couldn't like too different pairings. I support both Sparity and Rarijack. Just go with the pairing you initially planned in this story, then the next time you write an unrelated story, use the other pairing.
If you want to include both pairings in the same story, however, you could always have one take place on the other side of the mirror.

That is probably what I will end up doing in a way. The reason why it is so conflicting is because the specific circumstances in this story for why Ship B would come about are so cute and it would be a little difficult to reproduce that effect by making a whole new story. However, that's probably what I will end up doing since my brain can't seem to decide lol

You always seem to make it work, even if it takes a while and a bit of effort
