Tell Your Tale: Icy Prints · 2:18am January 12th

So this week, Season 2 begins with... A bit of a mixed bag, personally. Since our old purple villain is trapped in a tree instead of seeing the light, our heroes confirm that our new purple villain is close to Maretime Bay and... Do nothing about it, hoping she sees the light? Well, to be fair, they alert everyone.

I don't know. Part of me wants to like this, and another part of me was just... Yeah, really lackluster opening to the new season.

I mean it's better than being a shadow without knowing that there's a threat out there like Opaline at least now everybody is high alert

Yeah, that was the highlight of the episode.

Plus it's too early to see how the villain would do since she's in an Equestria will have to find out

To be fair, going up against a creature with mind-control powers with the only known cure in another dimension and the only shown creatures immune to the effects are Alicorns, is a bad idea. It kind of makes a little sense on Sunny’s part.

That said, tell everyone that "we got this if we stick together" instead of telling people to defend themselves, what her powers are, or let them know this is a person you personally watched enslave an entire town to accomplish a goal with the additional power to produce freezing cold wherever she goes run around free is a little mindboggling.

I feel the same way about the episode. It's a mixed bag.

Anyone else get Sailor Moon vibes when they were flaunting their cutie marks? Or am I thinking of the wrong magical girl anime?

Come to think of it, yeah. I had wondered if they'd let the public know that Alura was in Equestria.

So did Alura see them bolt from her after Sunny stepped on that twig. Does she know that they know?

Could someone get on the phone with the aurora-corns, see if they can ship some of that enchanted healing snow? Yeah, that crap that looks like powdered laundry detergent. It might come in handy on this side of the portal.

Can't say I agree with the idea of leaving Allura alone and hope that 'she'll be different in Equestria'. They shouldn't wait for the bad guy to make the first move. Twilight's generation did the same, like with Trixie and Starlight for example, and how many times did that come back to bite them? My plan would be hunting Allura down and stopping her plan before it's even begun

0:30 now to be fair, that was just wind/turbulence generated by Zipp's high-speed flying. But when Zipp did the flyby at Mane Melody to accentutate Pipp opening up shop for the day, did anyone else wish they'd reintroduce weather magic that pegasi had in G4? I'm sorry, but there are little moments in this episode that got me interested, along with the three-quarters of flashy fluff we saw, as well as the whole "our villain's back! Let's... tread water and hope for the best" thing with Alura, that made this... actually yeah, a mixed bag.

Re-introducing weather magic would mean having to make a weather factory, and thus introduce an entire new and critical industry to Zephyr Heights.

To say that would prove disruptive would be an understatement.

The whole rhyme about their cutie marks was... peculiar, for lack of better words

Nah, I think it could work. I mean, no unicorn can use magic to the extent that G4 users were capable of. Maybe they could work it so they can still cloudwalk, but outright weather manipulation is off the table until further experimentation.
