Five-hundred likes. Over eight-hundred bookshelves. Top of the feature list for five days. Even now it's still hanging out on the list taking its final bows. I am unbelievably overjoyed with everyone's reception to it.
In all honesty, I just stumbled on the picture and I thought "could be fun" and hammered out a story about it. All thanks go to the artist Egil-art and Big Saij for commissioning the art from Egil in the first place. So heap some praise onto them if you get the time.
I felt a little silly about posting it, because I had thought I'd do my whole "Brand New Story" post the next day. But all at once, it started blazing down the road without the announcement, and I was left at the door thinking "uh... Maybe I'll announce it when it's done". And technically, here we are. Not really an announcement of it, but a thank you for it as it settles into its place. I hope it keeps growing and getting shared around, but its time burning hot is slowly settling, and I couldn't be more pleased.
With that said, I had posted in the story before it hit four-hundred that I would make a sequel if we broke it... And we more than crushed through it. So, I'm hopefully having a little piece of my own getting made to serve as the image for the sequel as we speak. I read a few notes here and there, and I think I have both a funny, sad, and heartwarming follow-up to this story already thought up. I'm very excited to get it started, and I can't wait to share it.
I suppose that's all there is to say. Thank you all once again for a rousing success; it means a lot after my long absence, and it's nice to feel that charge. I hope to see you all soon. In the meantime, feel free to check out my other stories, I always love a comment, and I enjoy hearing from everyone.

It was the cover image that got my attention, you know. Just that dead-eyed look of "I can't even, my bucks to give have run out" demanded that I see if there was something worth reading attached to it.
