And so Aitran has reached its long-awaited conclusion. Thank you everyone for reading and commenting on it (and for all the faves and tracks too of course
I've had Chapter 13 ready to go for a few days, but I decided, "what better way to finish things off than with a special double-chapter update?" And so I held back. Besides, 13 and 14 feed into each other so smoothly, they may as well be one chapter
I did a little mental flip-flopping while writing chapter 14. I'd come to the conclusion that Twilight and Rainbow's homecoming would seem more dramatic if seen from the Equestria side, which would also allow me to expand on Spike's reaction at the end of Chapter 1 and roughly establish just how much time really passed during the adventure. At the same time, I recalled that there was one last bit I wanted to do with Rainbow Dash on Aitran before they left. I realized I would need to do a bit of a time skip for the Equestria scenes to line up with Aitran, so I used that as an excuse to slip in the Rainbow Dash scene.
Wait... Agh, I forgot to slip in Rainbow asking Star Swirl about all the bells. Minor, inconsequential joke, but I liked it. Ah well.
I'll put it here!
RD: Hold up. One last question.
Star: Yes?
RD: What's with all the bells?!
Star: ...I'm an old mage-scholar. I'm allowed an eccentricity or two, aren't I? *Leaves*
RD: ...
Ok, now that that's over with, I want some input. As some of you may be aware, I do fully intend to continue the story of Star Swirl the World Writer with a sequel (the title of which you can probably guess from a certain part of Chapter 13 ). I've got the overall plot sketched out, the opening and ending all but written, but I don't currently have too much on the antagonist besides some basic ideas of his history with Star Swirl (how they met, how long they associated with each other, that sort of thing). I'm open to suggestions on his name ("Gehn" is not a valid suggestion) and his species, which doesn't have to be limited to a type of pony. In fact, I think I'd prefer he not be a typical kind of pony. He could be a zebra, a diamond dog, a small dragon, or anything else you can make a good case for. Except humans. Humans are a no-no
Comment away dear readers.
I liked the It Takes a Village explanation for the bells. He thought invisible horseflies were trying to steal his clothes...
Looking forward to seeing the next story now : )
For the enemy how about a Sphinx?
I think a griffon would work well, since the original Ghen did set himself up as some sort of God, and I can totally see a griffon pretending to be a god in a world full of ponies, which all the ages except Forestsea seem to be, and to be fair that one had a different sentient species inhabiting it in Myst.
