Anti-"Fall of Equestria", and the Vietnam War · 6:46am Oct 15th, 2023

Hello Everypony, ScarFox9700 here.

Recently, I had a string of 3 new ideas related to the Anti-"Fall of Equestria" genre, aka, the Caribou come to invade Equestria, but then get defeated by either the Ponies themselves, by some outside force (usually involving Humanity), or a combination of both. However, these new ideas involve something that I haven't delved into much before; the Vietnam War. How does it involve the Vietnam War? Well, I'll let the ideas speak for themselves

1. "A Fallen Brother"

This story focuses on US Army Lieutenant Alex Henderson, who was serving in Vietnam, but upon his death in combat was sent to Equestria, where he was accepted by the Ponies, becoming best friends with Shining Armor, and using his knowledge of the Army, and the war in Vietnam, helped the Ponies beef up their armed forces with new weapons, and better tactics, and not a moment too soon, as King Danin and the Caribou come knocking, and are soon driven into a stalemate outside of the Cystal Empire, and into a grinding war of attrition that they're losing, badly. However, thanks to some kind of new gas that corrupts the stallions of the Equestrian Army, the Caribou are able to make breakthroughs, but at tremendous cost, eventually pushing as far south as Las Pegasus, Ponyville, and Fillydelphia, while also capturing Princess Celestia, and 3 of the Element Bearers in Canterlot. Soon after this, the Crystal Empire falls, leaving only southern Equestria in Equestrian control, and Shining Armor is now with the Caribou as well. Now Alex has to juggle spending time with his marefriend Daring Do, fighting the war against the Caribou, and trying to save Shining Armor, who's like a Brother to him

2. "The Vietnam War Museum"

The Caribou are overrunning Equestria, and soon after taking Ponyville, some of them explore the outskirts of town, and when they do, they come across something strange. Sitting by itself on the outskirts of town, near the Everfree Forest is a semi-large, unassuming building. A sign out front reads "The Vietnam War Museum", and there's an empty parking lot, and a flagpole featuring several flags that the Caribou have never seen before. The Caribou of this scouting group then enter through the front doors, and soon find themselves inside of an empty lobby. The floor is old carpet, the walls are white, and electrical lights buzz overhead. To their right are some restrooms, and to the left is what seems to be a gift shop for the museum. On the walls are a few paintings of soldiers, and sitting behind a desk is a creature that the Caribou have never seen before. He seems to be some kind of ape, and has no fur, wearing a dark green shirt and pants, with a leather belt, and black boots. He also seems to be older, perhaps in his 40's. He looks up at them when they enter, and welcomes them to the Vietnam War Museum. He tells them that admission is free, that donations are encouraged, and that he'll be their guide. Upon asking, the Caribou learn that he's a Human named Austin, and he's the museum's curator, and guide. He then gets up from behind his desk, and leads the way inside the rest of the museum. Some Caribou follow him, while others begin to look around for any signs of mares, or any signs of trouble, but seemingly find none.

Austin then leads the Caribou through the museum, and the Caribou are in awe. It soon becomes clear to them that Austin is not from their world, and nor did the Vietnam War happen on Equus. They see many displays of weapons, tools, uniforms, helmets, vehicles, APC's, tanks, jeeps, and even a few aircraft and helicopters, alongside various dioramas, full-sized displays with wax statues and mannequins, pictures, paintings, videos, statues of soldiers, and more. Austin tells them all about the Vietnam War, and his thoughts on the war, but all the while, the Caribou have this uneasy feeling that they're being watched, despite there not being anyone else around. Also unknown to the Caribou with Austin, those who strayed off elsewhere were going missing; picked off one by one. The Caribou had already swept the whole building, and aside from Austin, there was no one else inside, and Austin had never left their sight. And what was worrying was that their bodies would be found, with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, and/or stab wounds, but the only ones around were various mannequins, or statues, with their uniforms and bayonets dripping with blood. It made no sense. The statues were made of bronze, and there was no one inside any of the mannequins, so how were these Caribou dying?

Just then though, Austin suddenly disappeared, and metal security doors lowered over all of the doors to the museum, and the few windows were covered in black metal bars. A voice over the intercom announced that the museum was closing for the day, and then most of the lights went out, but a few remained on, including lights on the displays themselves. Just then, the Caribou suddenly became aware of a loud clanking sound, followed by heavy footsteps, and the sounds of things moving around. The Caribou then begin to look around, and to their horror, all of the mannequins, wax figures, and statues that they'd seen earlier were now moving, seemingly coming to life, climbing down from their displays and pedestals, and they were all staring at the Caribou coldly. Then, they lowered their weapons, and the Caribou were slaughtered. Some did manage to escape, only to be picked off elsewhere in the museum by various statues and mannequins, or killed in the gift shop by living toys of soldiers. 1-2 were captured alive, and taken to Austin, who had them tied up, and then the living denizens of the museum stood guard over them while Austin explained that his museum was very special, and that those with ill-intent were not welcome there. The Caribou asked how they were alive, and Austin just shrugs, but does say that each living entity was infused with the spirit of a US Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Marine, or Coast Guardsman who lost his life in the Vietnam War. The captured Caribou are kept alive, but then Austin begins to oversee the denizens of the museum as they begin to ready their weapons, load up their vehicles, and get ready to take the fight to the Caribou, and the story ends with Austin setting up a screen for the captured Caribou to have a ringside seat for the destruction of King Danin's forces

3. "(No Title Yet")

The Caribou are closing in on Ponyville rapidly, despite the best efforts of the Equestrian Military, and the Element Bearers, who now try to defend Ponyville, and Twilight's School. The lone Human in town, a young man named Austin, the son of a Vietnam War veteran, is all geared up in his Dad's old uniform, helmet, and weapons, ready to fight, but Twilight tells him that they'd need an entire army to fight the Caribou; one that wasn't able to be mind-controlled by King Danin's corrupted Magic. Austin then looks at Twilight, and tells him that he has an army, and it stands ready to fight. Twilight asks him where it is then, as she doesn't see it anywhere.

"Oh ye of little Faith!" Austin then turns to look towards the American War Museum, which he's the curator of. This museum covers WW1, WW2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and up to Present Day (2012, when the story is set), with a few additional displays on the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican War, the Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. He then pulls out a wand that Twilight had given him as a gift a few years earlier, and points it towards the museum. "Piertotem Locomotor!" He says.

At first, nothing seems to happen, but just then, a large bronze statue out front, depicting 50 WW2 soldiers storming the beaches on D-Day began to move, and the soldiers all jumped down to the ground. Inside the museum, more statues, mannequins, and wax figures began to move, grab their weapons, jump down from their displays, and march outside. Some boarded trucks, tanks, armored cars, and other vehicles, and started them up, while others climbed into various aircraft and helicopters, getting them airborne, and the rest formed up into their units, spanning over 200 years of American Military History, and got ready to defend Ponyville, and prepared to liberate the rest of Equestria from the Caribou. The Caribou were stunned when they suddenly faced an Army unlike anything they'd ever seen before, and one that their corrupting Magic had no influence over. The rest of the story covers the defeat of the Caribou, Equestria being saved, and then all of the soldiers that Austin brought to life returning to the museum, parking all of their vehicles, landing all of their aircraft, and then climbing back onto/into their displays, and freezing up, once again becoming just ordinary statues, mannequins, and wax figures. Just like this scene from the classic movie "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"

So what do you all think of these ideas? Do any of them interest you? As of right now, "A Fallen Brother" is about half-complete, while the other 2 haven't been started yet, but could be soon

This is like Night at the Museum, but kicking ass and taking names!!!!!

Yes I love your idea go for it

5750607
Hello Ace Striker,

And I'm glad you like my ideas

5750603
Hello OP Omni God-Emperor of Doom,

And "The Vietnam War Museum" is meant to be like "What if 'Night at the Museum' was a horror movie?" while the 3rd yet-unnamed story is a mixture of "Night at the Museum", "Harry Potter", and "Bedknobs and Broomsticks"

awesome i like all of them and i can't wait read them all my friend:pinkiehappy::twilightsmile:

I would personally love to see number 2

Personally I like options 2 and 3

5750626
Hello shining paladin,

And I'm glad that you like all 3 of my ideas, and want to read them

5750633
Hello Jamessonboo22,

And #2 is my favorite of the 3 ideas, as it'll be a few chapters, but very dark and equally mysterious. As a friend of mine said, it'll be like "Night at the Museum", but as a horror movie

5750635
Hello The Cybernetic Alicorn,

And I can agree with you there. #1 was more or less meant to be a prototype to test out the concept of a Vietnam War-themed Anti-Fall of Equestria story, and if it's successful, then I can start working on ideas #2 and #3

I like the second one a lot, and I mean A LOT. This is ingenious!
I also like three, three is very good. Cause it has everything.
But now I'm torn between the two. I'm leaning more heavily on the second option. To summarize 1: 5% 2: 55% 3: 40%
I would love this, if you choose to. Heck it might not be a bad Idea to make one them the main AU then make the others spin-offs of the main AU.
I eagerly await for this to be made!:pinkiehappy:

5750662
Hello Horesepoweryt,

And everyone seems to like the second one the most, followed closely by #3. And when it comes to writing them, #1 will be coming first, but that's only because it's already more than halfway done, and will be the prototype for this new Anti-FoE-Vietnam War genre. After it's done, then I'll start work on #2, since it'll be shorter than #3, and because it's the most-requested. And then will come #3. I look forward to writing them as well when the time comes

definitely interesting story ideas. i like the museum take where the soldiers come to life to fight for what is right. its unique, and very cool.
i think the 2nd one is the best

5750736
Hello Ninja_Master6545,

And I'm glad you think so. I'd never really seen any stories here on FIMFiction where museum exhibits came to life like in "Night at the Museum", so I thought about creating one, and that laid the foundation for what would become the idea for Story #2, which is by far the most popular, the "Vietnam War Museum"

these are pretty good ideas. I have my own version of the "Fall of Equestria" story as a sorta mini-arc in my own stories.

5750832
Hello Saphirus92,

And I'm glad that you like my ideas. And really? You have your own version of "Fall of Equestria"?

5750861
well, mostly some elements of it. In my stories, the Caribou are one of the villain factions my team of characters have faced. they have tried a few times to conquer Equestria the same way they would in the Fall of Equestria story. but would fail thanks to my team. eventually, my team would even help and fight alongside a Caribou resistance to overthrow their brutal king.

5750864
Hmm, this sounds kinda familiar. I thought of a similar idea where the Caribou conquer Equestria, but then the human MC, his Caribou girlfriend, Equestrian freedom fighters, and other Caribou who despise King Danin and his rule form a liberation army to liberate Equestria, and then invade the Caribou Empire to overthrow King Danin. I think I was going to call it "The Ghost Soldier", or something like this. It never got very far off the ground before I shelved it for lack of good ideas for it

5750876
that honestly sounds pretty good, you should revisit that. As for my stories, I'm still kinda brainstorming, and like I said, the Caribou are just one of the many villain factions my team faces.

5750878
I might, though first I want to write these Anti-Fall of Equestria Vietnam War war stories

Hmmm I like #2 at lot but if your first story doesn’t work out then try out the second one.

But #2 please yes a thousand times yes

5750921
Wait a sec the military had gas mask especially the tunnel rats in Vietnam?

And I think I’m doing something similar to yours but with a little bit of a twist l, tell me have you heard or play the division from Ubisoft?

5750711
Also the second one seems to be in line for this month since you know, still though please do the second one.

5750939
Everyone wants #2, which is why it'll be written next

5750941
I'm not sure if they did or not. If not though, then the gas masks were Equestrian-supplied

5750942
Yeah, I have. I haven't played the games, but I know about them

5750943
Yes, it is, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to write it this month or not, due to outside commitments

5751005
That would probably explain why the gas worked then

5751005
Wait how does the gas work the caribou one work at least? Like against filter types exactly?

5751814
Actually, it works like it did in WW1; because the Equestrians didn't realize until too late that what hit the ground near them was in fact not defective ammunition, but were in fact rockets and shells carrying the gas; many were unable to get their gas masks on in time

5751820
The gas does what is seen in most "Fall of Equestria" stories; it corrupts the minds of the stallions, forcing them to turn on the females around them, and help the Caribou subdue any males who resist. I got bored of the whole "The Caribou corrupted the Crystal Heart, so now every stallion in Equestria is evil" trope, so I decided to shake things up a bit by instead having the stallions become corrupted if they get exposed to the Caribou's gas. Some are able to get their gas masks on in time, which filters the gas out, but others aren't. And following the initial attacks, and the Ponies are pushed back to Las Pegasus, the Everfree Forest, and Baltimare, gas masks are worn at almost all times, thus rendering the Caribou's gas all but useless, forcing the war to stalemate once again, with the Equestrians preparing for a massive counterattack

5751836
Oh, guessing it was a surprise attack I’m guessing when people were asleep or most were.

5751838
Wait so the gas doesn’t um what’s the word evaporate or something or takes some special equipment to make the area safe to take your gas mask and off

5752680
Yes, it was a surprise attack, but not while everyone was asleep. It was during a Caribou bombardment of their fortifications, so many took shelter, and once the shelling slowed, they were coming back out to shore up any damage, and re-man their posts to launch a counter barrage, and then this was when the gas shells were launched. The Ponies thought that they were duds, as they looked just like all of the other shells, but then the bottom the shell flipped open like a soup can lid, and began to dispense the gas. Only those who were far enough away from the shells were able to get their gas masks on in time

5752682
I think the word you're looking for is "dissipate". And yes, the gas eventually dissipates on its own, as seen in the story

5752689
Oh, that explains a lot

5752690
Yeah it was on the tip of my tongue. So it does dissipate naturally

5753477
Yes, it does. Not too much unlike the various poison gases used in WW1

5753487
Oh okay. But guessing some still have to wear gas mask because some might be faulty/duds or unexploded/release from the shells b/c of faulty release mechanisms

5754168
Yeah, they do. Some hardly take their gas masks off at all

As I read the article, I couldn't help but think about the geopolitical implications of such military prowess, evoking thoughts about diplomacy, security, and the delicate balance of power in the modern world. As a military enthusiast, I was engrossed in the article https://www.agmglobalvision.com/the_best_military_hardware_of_the_us_army. The article takes an in-depth look at the advanced weapons and technologies used by the US Army, demonstrating their superiority on the world stage. From modern fighter jets to modern tanks and surveillance systems, each piece of equipment symbolized America's military dominance and its influence in shaping the world order.
