Times the Candy Mare has canonically been defeated, by whom, and how in chronological order:
The Most Horrible Hearth's Warming EVER: A Candy Mare Tale - Princess Luna(Survived) - destroyed her candy ghoul army, put her in a coma, and dismembered her, eventually sealed in multiple statues so she could not regenerate
The Last Something Sweet to Bite - Sunset Shimmer (survived) - Released her stolen souls, then beat and burned her to death
Something Sweet Bites Back - Human (Sci)Twilight Sparkle (died) - Nuclear explosion
Something Sweet To Bite: Curse of the Candy Cult - Alternate Rarity and Applejack (survived) - Tricked her into a portal to Limbo
Something Sweet to Bite: A New Generation - Queen Opaline (died) - Magical firestorm, burned to ashes
That's just for those that claim the Candy Mare is 'too OP' or a 'Mary Sue' and never loses or dies.
Sounds about right. Just because they're strong and/or Eldritch like doesn't mean they're unbeatable.
And yet she still turns out the victor of each story, be it through influence, magic or whatever improv writing fits the bill. Funny that, isn’t it.
The main issue isn’t even that the Candy Mare is OP, she’s a multi dimension gobbling god, don’t be daft, of course she is, it’s that after the sixth time it’s no longer fun, scary or interesting. It’s dull.
Sorry if my opinion upsets you.

Except she doesn’t? That’s what this blog post is about. There are four stories where she flat loses - five if you count the most recent. Yes it’s usually a pyrrhic victory for the heroes, or a setup where the story could continue, but it’s still a loss.
Some of you act like I owe you a definitive and final ending, and I don’t.
Don’t eat a cheese burger and then complain you wanted a fish sandwich.
If the comments I was getting were just “it’s boring” then that wouldn’t be what I’m addressing.
But as an aside, for those of you who find slasher stories boring, my advice then is don’t read slasher fiction - simple as that.
Jason lives, Michael returns, Freddy will always be in your nightmares, and the Candy Mare’s curse lives on.
