It is my birthday today, and I am now 23 years old.

It's strange, because I'm currently in Washington, DC, on a combination of birthday and work trip with my mom and dad. It's been really fun so far. Apart from my folks and I needing to change hotels after one night (Because the hotel we were originally in was a mess), and some really sweaty walks in the DC heat...there really haven't been any low moments.

I am ready to go home, though, which is good, because we leave tomorrow evening and we'll be home by midnight, I'd say.

But that also brings me to my second topic.

It's the 22'nd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, and I look skyward in remembrance of all those we lost, and may we never forget their names. My mom and dad once told me that while they watched the attacks on TV as it happened. I was playing in front of the screen, only a year old. I look back on that moment as a double-edged sort of thing now.

Happiness, because I came into this world 23 years ago.

Sadness, because of what the world lost on that same day, only a year later.

To all those souls that perished aboard the Towers, the Pentagon and on each of the four planes...I offer this.

Lord, Grant the souls sent your way...final peace and rest at last, for they have earned their place in heaven.
