So Sunset has somewhat accepted the fact that Starlight will be her peer. This could have taken a longer route and could have seen a lot more opposition from the golden mare, but I think moving forward with what she wants is a bit more... practical.
Friendship is Magic, to me at least, has always been about the 6 virtues and giving others second chances, so Sunset, who is Celestia's representative, would definitely try this approach with Starlight.
Twilight... I think Twilight will surprise a lot of people with her reaction. These three mares all have their flaws and are trying to fix them. Well, Twilight and Sunset are, Starlight is just kind of... angry and unhappy. This is obviously due to not having anyone up to this point that really cares about her.
Next we'll be seeing Twilight's perspective and her reactions to Starlight's new position. I think they're really fun chapters.
