Okay, Okay, I'll Take It Slow · 3:29am Feb 22nd, 2012
All right, I'll make it three chapters this week, then three on Saturday with a possible lack of new MLP:FiM episode. Then I'll wait a little while until I get enough comments to be happy. :3
In all seriousness, though, I'll still be post 2 episodes this week. Thinking about my time, your time, keeping up, and whatnot. Also, I just kind of got a slap in the face in regards to my writing and stuff so... reality hurts sometimes. Motivation goes up and down. What can you do.
Good night, y'all.
Good to see your not straining yourself. We don't want to see you dead...
A slap in the face from some parasprite is nothing compared to the inverse slapping (???) coming from us fans here; ignore the haters, unless you can make something constructive from them
Ah, that's not nice to get slapped in the face.
Everybody knows shots to the balls are better.
Getting back on track, release things as you see fit. No sense in rushing and feeling like you're putting out an inferior product. You've got a ton written already, more that I've been able to produce in the same amount of time. Just stay true to your vision and the rest of us will wait for the good times to roll.
Till then!

I feel I can be honest with you all about this: There was no direct attack, exactly, unless you count my ego deciding to turn on itself. It's issues with self-satisfaction, to state it best. I love the fact that I've seemed to have picked up very intelligent and courteous readers, but sometimes I look at other authors and get a little jealous of the numbers. Attention issues... what can you do?
Really, though, I write because it's fun, and I'm happy with those whom I share conversation and the reader/writer relationship. I just wish I could tell myself that wholeheartedly every waking second.

What can you do? Well, take if from someone who has also had self-esteem issues similar to yours in regards to writing, at least.
Don't look at the numbers. I know that's hard to do. Numbers are everywhere on this site and others similar to it. However, trying to compare numbers with others and doing the math will only drive you to insanity.
Try to look at it this way. You have a story that many do read and enjoy. You've been featured on Equestria Daily and have been six-starred. Not many can claim that. Just as long as you don't flaunt it in others' faces, you should take some pride in that.
Also, the way I see it, there are more pressing issues to stress over than getting fleeting recognition on fanfiction. Yeah, we all spend a lot of time working and sweating over it, but it should be something done out of fun and a willingness to share with others. Work, health and relations should come on the top of your list of things to worry about.
Try to take things in stride and don't worry so much about what the other guy is doing. We're all here to read stories that we find entertaining, not try to win some sort of popularity contest. I know, it's not easy to do that, but then I take stock of my situation and find that thing really aren't so bad. I get to sit here and write about colorful ponies whenever I feel like it.
HOW MANY CAN CLAIM THAT?!
Hope this makes you feel better and peace out!

It's encouraging to hear I'm not alone. The numbers game did drive my crazy back in December, but in time I got the priorities set straight: real life first, then the story writing. I've come to value the fact that I have great readers who comment and chat with me (like you!) and am getting to that state where I'm ignoring the numbers more and more. It really isn't a competition, but my mind loves to think so sometimes. It's times like those where I need to remember (and sometimes to hear) that I should be focusing on the fun in all this.
Thanks for the note, it definitely helped. I'm off to finish Chapter 26 for now. Got the motivation and whatnot, you know.
We are our own worst critic, But stop being such a baby! jk
Its all good though, take your time and what not but I am just letting you know you are the only Fan Fic author who I am following right now who is still consistently putting out updates and what not. So me sense of boredom is relying on you! Of course no pressure.

"Baby"!? Why you-!
2 things I set out to do for whoever labeled himself or herself as one of my "readers":
1. Engage with them, whether that meant chatting it up in the comments section or reading their stories and blogs.
2. Spoil 'em like their my grandkids with constant updates. I love spoiling.

Ugh, 3:13am. Dumb meteorology exam.
