Hello everyone, as some of you may recall I had mentioned the idea of a story involving a character working as a radio station DJ in my last Question of the Week. Well, my brain has been writhing with ideas for this and I thought that I would let them out and see what you all think.
So, I'm thinking it will take place in Gen 5 in the town of Maretime Bay. The story itself will be a comedic, slice of life with a few fun spooks thrown in. 🦇

The main character is an earth pony stallion who works as the evening DJ for the Radio Station 91.39 - The CHILL. I'm not too sure how I want him to look just yet, but I do know a few details. Due to a bizarre birthmark on his face and the fact that he unknowingly scowls when he is thinking/concentrating, most ponies tend to stay away from him. Then the fact that he is rarely seen outside during the day (and most of them don't know that he works at the station) also doesn't help. Despite his unsettling appearance/mannerisms, he is actually very charming/charismatic on the radio, though nopony realizes it is him because he uses a radio persona.
Perhaps there is a mare among the locales that does like him, but he has been oblivious to her hints thus far.
The radio station is also a little bizarre, first the main facility is actually underground (a defense measure back when earth ponies were still afraid of Pegasi invading), there is also a door in the area that is locked with a food tray slot, which the MC pushes food through at the beginning of each shift and takes away an empty try at the end of his shift (is that... slime residue). 
He has a co-host who is a mare who is actually a vampony. I'm not sure if I want to create an oc or maybe use Flutterbat for this role. Admittedly, there is a part that kind of likes the idea that she looks like the mare with a brown coat and white(ish) mane/tail in this image (though with a different cutie mark and eye color, I'm thinking that her eyes will be magenta with a hint of red at the center of the iris, which gradually spreads outwards when she get's... thirsty

In addition to the mysteries surrounding the station, our protagonist has to talk to callers on the show about the strange occurrences around Equestria (yes, there will be cryptids). There might be songs that reference the darker/spookier aspects of the fandom, like: Stay Outta That Shed, by the Shy Butchers.
There's also the idea that maybe one of the radio cassette tapes has a demon inside it (could be Discord, could be something else, not sure yet).

So, that's what I have so far for the story idea involving a radio DJ. Just thought I'd throw it out there and see what you all think. Any feedback you have to offer will be awesome. 
not sure if you are aware, there was something along the line of the vinyl scratch tapes that was a while back about Vinyl and Octavia
I can see you have a different story line then the tapes but I just figured I'd bring it up

I actually am aware of the Vinyl Scratch Tapes (though I haven't read it) as it is one of the stories I added to the new Radio Station group I made.

Possibly the Flutterbat route? Hm... I'm going to recommend that she is not the real Fluttershy. It's a whole lot of a doozy to explain her existance and reason she is there without Discord or how she let Equestria, intended or not, became the way it is.
I'm suggesting that this Flutterbat is a whole new creature that could be an errant magic Twilight didn't completely dispel. Or it could be the evil Fluttershy clone that didn't get melted completely by the Element Tree.
Or even a potential descendent of Fluttershy.
The cassette demon. I like the idea that this was Discord's prank back in the day that wasn't discovered until then. Although, if you are going through the Discord route, bringing Flutterbat into this could be interesting and drama filled.
As for the cryptids or spooks, I think having some live up to their name is a good balance. Not all monster tales are fiction; some are cautionary for a reason
I actually love radio stations and wanted to write something based off Fallout: Equestria that was pretty much your idea.
I do like your ideas, and it would be cool (though I don’t really check front page anymore) to see a radio station story.
I wouldn’t make the co-host Flutterbat, but it could be some other rogue batpony who people don’t really know either. I think there’s could be some real potential here. The Vinyl Scratch Tapes is one of the earliest “Experimental” (tame by today’s standards but) works in this fandom, and it would be cool if this was a love letter to something like that.
5733898 Well, my thought was like a mixture of spooky/rock music. When trying to come up with the name, I thought of the Thriller, so it changed to the CHILL.
"Welcome to 91.39 the CHILL, let our music run down your spine..."
5733901 Yeah, I'm kind of leaning toward the OC route, though I have a feeling you guys might like Visiola.
Another idea I had was, what if the demon in the cassette was the Pony of Shadows.
And what if some sort of past "incident" involving the cassette led to cryptids popping up throughout Equestria.

I just like the novelty of it being recordings of a radio broadcast really (also Vinyl Scratch and Octavia bounce off each other, as you’d expect, very well)
Also people give the second half hell but I kinda enjoyed it when I read it at the time
Can't have it be Flutterbat just because this is a G5 story.
The Slime has to play into the story somehow. A relative/brother/sister who got cursed and changed? An employee that comes out only to do specific tasks they alone are qualified to do. Something.
Interesting idea on the cassette tape. The demon gets to sing lyrics about giving in to your dark side or somewhat. The demon isn't exactly thrilled to be trapped there, but knows the DJ was not to cause of their imprisonment, doesn't have the ability to free him (destroying the tape would just kill the demon), and appreciates the opportunity to corrupt souls.
5733984 Well, the idea was that since she's a vampony that Fluttershy managed to live past her usually lifespan, but I've already decided to swap her out for an oc as the vampiric co-host.
Yeah, on one hand I thought it would be a situation that they try to avoid playing the cassette, on the other I like the idea that it's behind a glass panel, marked, In case of Emergency.
